NGL Centennial

January 23, 2014 at 07:02PM View BBCode

The 100th season of the NGL is coming up this spring (April in real time). I think we should have fun with this. What ideas do people have?

--Centennial All-Star team, with 1 player at each position

--Interviews with current and former owners (e.g. Fred Gomez, mrhiawatha)

--Statistical analysis (best and worst drafts ever, worst #1 picks ever, best single-season teams...lots of possibilities here)

--One-hit wonders (players who had a single at-bat in their MLB careers)

--Crash Davis types (players who spent their entire careers on minor-league rosters and then retired while still in the minors without ever being promoted)

Any ideas? What would you guys like to see? What would people like to help with?

I like:

Statistical analysis (best and worst drafts ever, worst #1 picks ever, best single-season teams...lots of possibilities here)....Really interested to see that. #1 overall that is.....

--Centennial All-Star team, with 1 player at each position....would also be very interesting.

I havent been around all that long so Im not sure. I would be interested in reading almost anything that is contributed though.

I could give a little writeup on the best players per position for my team since I took over and made the team The Horde, as well as some side notes such as 3rd round or later draft pick successes.

3rd round shocker for me is easy:

[url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?statsorimps=imps&id=10838528][color=Blue]Craig Fitzgerald, SP[/color][/url]

He has not become anything yet but man 35 out of 78 last season and 14/45 so far this season has been impressive 49/123 in less than 2 seasons. Started at B-/D+ as a 21 yr old and now is a A/C as a 22 year old. Talk about odds being against you at the age of OS 21, holy crap B-/D+ is basically death in Sim Dynasty. Really, I guess he could be a A+/C+ by the end of next season which is still not great but can become a serviceable pitcher for a rebuilding team at the age of 24-25-26 in the Majors, you never know at OS 26-27 He could be a B/A+/B pitcher as a #4 or #5 on a contender some day, Pipe Dream for a B-/D+ guy at the age of 21.

Again I have not played this game in 3-5 years so I am a little rusty and have not seen some of these changes.

Love all the ideas Max, especially the all-star team, best and worst 1st picks, best teams...the interview idea is interesting as well. I have often wondered how Fred is doing in football. A game I still haven't tried although I have been tempted.
