How Not to Play the Game

January 21, 2014 at 10:10PM View BBCode

I have never seen an uglier game. My QB's combined to go 10 of 33 for 137 yards, 3 picks and 6 sacks for minus 50 yards.

CHI went 13 of 40 for 82 yards and took 6 sacks for minus 45 yards.

We both also fumbled multiple times.

Ouch!

I have a question though:

2nd and 10 for the Slackers, they huddle and line up in a Pro Set; the Beach Bums line up in a 4-3.
Greg Pettigrew takes the snap, hands off to Otto Premminger.
Flag There is a flag on the play.
Otto Premminger runs up the right for a short gain.
PENALTY: SAC, Illegal formation, #61 Edward Clements is out of position, 5 yards.
The penalty is declined.

Why did San Diego decline the penalty? I see no advantage in doing so.

3rd down penalty decline options have been added. Check your Strategy page under PENALTIES, you can control that call now. If you havent adjusted your settings then thats the default.

You're right (and I still need to start working on that, right now I haven't get into it), but BHE post mentions that it's in 2nd down.

Here's a recent explanation on the way the DC mind works when thinking about accepting or declining penalties:

If the two percentages are within 2% of each other, the defense will accept but since there was a 3% difference the defense declined. It really could have gone either way here.

Still, only 46 points allowed in more than 6 games when nobody else has less than 100, impressive. My defenses always suck.

Good catch and good answer Hoder, sorry I missed the 2nd down.

Having seen that, I do think the computer made the right choice there, but the owner should have the option in on the Settings page, or at least I think so. :spin:

Yea, I haven't tinkered with the penalty settings yet. I stared at them one day and the logic made my head hurt.

Then again, everything made my head hurt that day as I was fighting the flu. I need to revist it.
