Belated HoF Ballot
December 17, 2013 at 07:24PM View BBCode
This is the first of two I will be putting up before the start of next season. It consists of only players that retired after the 2001 season. I will be omitting the returning nominees for this ballot in order to quicken the process. Those nominees, as well as those which retired after the 2002 season, will be returned for the second ballot I will put forth in a few weeks.
If you believe I have overlooked a deserving nominee from the 2001 retirement class, please let me know and I will add him to the next ballot.
This ballot will remain active for 10 days (or until we get 100% participation). On December 27, I will tally the votes and produce the results.
The Rules:
- All current team owners are eligible to vote.
- A player receiving "yes" votes on at least 75% (rounded up) of the ballots with a minimum of 8 votes will be elected.
- A player must receive at least two "yes" votes to remain on the ballot for next season.
- Any players on the ballot 5 times and do not receive enough votes to be elected will be removed from future ballots.
The nominees:

Cuthbert

Burdock.
Almost voted for whole class, but my anti-reliever bias won out.

Braves vote for Burdock, Loane and Richard.
To politic for Burdock, offensively he was borderline, but the man could field like a madman. +77 for his career in right field and a cannon for an arm. Combine the defense with the offense and I think he is good enough.

Seattle votes for...
Burdock
Cuthbert
Loane
Richard
I second the defense of Burdock along the lines of defensive prowess. With consistently above average offensive stats in most categories and stellar defense (7 Gold Gloves in 15 seasons), he certainly earns my vote.

Pitts vote:
Loane
Richard
Burdock - Great defensive players always get my vote. The seven Gold Gloves are huge, but the guy also had 75 Assists from RF. Took more than a few runners off the bases. This guy was a game changer in the field.

Baltimore votes in favor of:
Loane
Parker
Richard
I know there's a RP bias here, and Parker doesn't exactly have the stats overall, but for nearly a decade he was the TRL's most dominant closer. Had I used him as a closer his entire career, he'd probably be the TRL record holder in Saves, or near so. I tried to turn him into a SP early on, and that cost him. I kind of see him somewhat as an Eckersley type for this league.
Anyway, my vote makes 12... so that leaves 4 more to go. Let's get 'em in! If an owner that is leaving after this season can put in a vote... so can the rest of you. Especially those who have guys on the ballot.
