Why do I suck?

June 14, 2004 at 11:20PM View BBCode

I don't understand why I suck so badly right now. All I've done is improve my starting pitching and my lineup, and now I can't buy a goddamn win to save my life. Arrrrggghhh!

Bullpen shakeup in Beantown. Kevin Faulk has been handed the closer position and Ty Law has taken over as setup guy extrordonaire. Perhaps this will stop the bleeding, 11-19 over the last 30 games.

not that I am an expert, especially given my platinum record but...

1. You have horrible horrible horrible defense which costs you countless singles and doubles plus the errors, the next time you wonder why your guys ERA are higher than they should be, remember you have Scott in left et al

2. You have three great starters than two REALLY REALLY bad ones, to compete with Cleveland you have to be at least four deep

3. You need at least three relievers with B+ control or mega hitters like NY and Baltimore will just wear you down over three games and over 162 games . Prepare to sell your house, your car, your Brady jersey to get them but you do need them

4. You lose to the Wind too much

Just my observations

I'd have to mostly agree with what mibac said, except Boston definately does not have 2 really bad sp's...with the acquisition of Lee more like 4 really good ones. I also think that his hitting is probably underperforming, but no doubt his pen is weak, and fielding is suspect.

sorry I forgot about Lee, wow that was an expensive acquisition wasn't it? i bet Keltner would really help your defense...

My starting pitching staff is too good (allegedly) to keep losing to the goddamn Wind. It's possible that I'm going to be swept in CONSECUTIVE SERIES by freakin' Chicago. I'm not claiming to be the '27 Yanks, but gimme a break.

It's really not surprising that I do very very well against you, I am a singles and doubles team and you have the worst defense in the entire league BY FAR so balls get by your guys all the time that would be outs against a team that can field (note I had 13!!! singles in game one and five doubles in game two) and since I am fast I can take extra bases on your suspect catching and it doesn't hurt that you keep making multiple errors every game against me. You are one of the few teams that has under-emphasized control hitters so my junkball pitchers do pretty well against your free swingers as long as I score runs, which I do in droves. I know it's in my interest to hype this trade but Keltner and Case would radically improve your D and thus your pitching and imagine them hitting 1,2,3 with Branch. Just hit that Accept button and you will slap me silly for series to come. ;)
