It's the freakin' ASL.

Not to diminish Mr. Swann's achievements but Breckinridge is 16-1 and I could have 10 of him plus a a .300 hitter for the price of Swann .

True, but having a turdy turdface is what makes it fun.

To me having a poor bastard like Brackinridge playing for less than a million bucks and going 19-2 with a sub 2.00 ERA is what's really fun.

I was speaking t h e o r e t i c a l l y (talking slow acuz, you know, big word), obviously there are not 10 players of Brackenridge's magnificent skill level available, or I'm just too damn lazy to find them.

My point was more about the insanity of this league, specifically, and the ridiculous over payment I saw for SPs in real salary leagues. When a player commands almost 12% of your payroll cap he damn well better produce, especially when he only appears in 22% of your games.

Brackenridge turned his game up a notch this year, going 23-1..........for just over 1% of his team's payroll cap .

Considering the number of low-cost, high performing pitchers in the league (I typically have two or three of them myself), I suggest the bolded section has more to do with it. ;)

(In reality, it would be interesting to see how such a team would fare in the playoffs, considering the kind of offense one could assemble using such a plan. It would probably take a few seasons to assemble, but it would be a fun experiment.)

Yeah...the real salary leagues are tough to manage considering the insane bidding for pitchers and stud hitters. Interestingly, in the KBL, we've started to see far fewer of the $15 - $20M bids for top talent. Thus, we've had at least three-to-four teams compete in the NL for much of the season, recently...as a level of parity has started to emerge.

PS: I think we'll do another round of HOF voting in the GNL soon.

One of the major reasons I left the KBL was that I just can't stand the "one year contract" bonus that the SIM offers.

I know that in MLB occasionally players coming off less than perfect situations will sign one year deals to "prove" themselves, Adrian Beltre's stint in Boston being a recent example, but in the sim players will just keep signing one year deals.

I also think that bids should only be visible if your team has bid on the player in question, and that teams should have a limit on the number of free agents they can bid on.

These two ideas would stop the "poach" bid, where a team with no previous interest in Player A knows that Player A has a top bid of $4M so they bid $6M, on a one year deal of course, and grab him. The second part would stop teams from bidding the league minimum on everyone just to see what the bids are.
