I can't stand this!

I like this game, it is a lot of fun but there is no logic. I've been working since 1950 to try and improve my bullpen. And I thought that this I had finally accomplished that. All B pitchers and a B+ closer. But guess what, it is still the same. I have come to the conclusion that there is no skill in this game, it is all luck. And it is very very frustrating. Hell in my other league I just lost a game by giving up 9 runs in the 9th inning. Maybe I am just frustrated right now but there is a trend of blowing games and of course Tyson doesn't keep blown saves even though it has been asked to add. I think everyone would like to know how unreal that would be. Good, I am OK now. I just had to vent. It has been stored inside me for 4 simdynasty years.

I feel your pain

I took over this team a couple seasons ago and am still trying to figure why they are such underachievers. I have an A- pitcher who can't win to save his life (7.23 ERA b4 he got injured).

I constantly see players with low ratings outperforming players with higher ratings.

One of my biggest frustrations is the drop-off in production by players 31-34 even tho their ratings are still high. A rating of A/A-/A+ should mean the same production whether the player is 24 or 43, shouldn't it?

It is no wonder that there is no use for players over 32 in this game (some would argue over 30).

If Tyson addressed the lack of production between ages 30 and 36 you would see more of a demand for these players.

This guy has been my biggest disappointment so far this season. Maybe after his power vs rhp improves his stats will go up. If I had room in my minors I'd send him back down!

I guess saying "I feel your pain" might sound kind of hollow from me, since the Lynx have been getting all the good luck if that's what it is. But I agree with how hard it is to count on the bullpen closing out a game. If you look at Pittsburgh's relievers, they should be doing pretty well, but my closers always try to make it interesting and sometimes blow games. Part of my problem is my best guys there are lefties. Righties Maye and Elston are hot but have control problems sometimes. Ace looks okay on paper but this league has been eating him up for many years. I guess I'm going to have to consider making Hobbs the closer, despite all the mighty right-handed hitters in the NL.

But with the bats in this league that were awesome from the start and keep getting better every year, no lead is safe in the LDL. Only one of the 5 top save guys in the league right now have ERAs under 3.60 (that's Fancy Mouse Dick Lane with 10 saves and a 1.74 ERA). Last year, the top 2 in saves were over 3 in ERA.

Not to mention that relievers often have to see the best hitters - when a PH comes into the game, he his handpicked to be the best hitter for that pitcher. At the same time, we don't have the luxury of always bringing in the best pitcher for the next few batters (or one in some cases). In fact, sometimes the matchups are pretty bad for pitchers that come in, and there's not much we can do about it. Plus of course relievers often inherit other pitchers' problems. These poor hurlers can't win for losing in the LDL.

As for veterans' production decreasing, I think one of the reasons we see this is that we are still in the inflation zone in this league, where every year the competition gets a little bit better. That means for players whose ratings don't improve at all, they will naturally see a slight decline.

Talk about relievers trying to blow games, the MillerTime vs. Lynx series we played today illustrated your point. In Game 1, Milwaukee took a 4-run lead into the 9th, but closer Brad Hauck couldn't resist giving up a 2-run homer before getting the final out. Then in Game 2, Hauck gave up a tying homer in the 9th, but then Lynx fireman Elston gave up a grand slam in the 10th to lose it. Then in Game 3, Elston nearly blew another game when he gave up a 3-run shot in the 9th that brought Milwaukee to within a run, but the Lynx held on to win.

We were lucky to steal one out of that series - it looks like the race is on in the NL. Good luck everybody!

It was very tempting, but I had to pass. Boots just hit his 1st ever career HR just as you sent your offer! I guess he got the hint :cool2:
