I'm calling out Boston...

I am currently in my second season with this group. I came back because I saw the history of the league being kept and it looked like a good group. That being said, the Boston team has been fishing for a newbie to take advantage of. I let the first trade offer go by. The second one started to annoy me. The third was the straw that broke the camels back. He lumps 5 or 6 17-21 year-olds and 4 or 5 draft picks and wants 2 premium players in return. Anyone who plays this free abbreviated game knows that young players and draft picks are pretty much useless, a 3 partial season format doesn't allow enough time for the kids to mature...those of us who have played this game for awhile know that, newbies do not. I think it's cheap and borderline cheating to fish for owners who don't know any better. It's a shame some folks can't compete without trying to take shortcuts. On another subject, I think it's really great that someone takes the time to keep ongoing league results.

Thank you, I have been getting the same offers as well.

We have always had a good league here and I have known some of the other owners for a long time as well as being in other leagues with them. I wanted to keep the past results for enjoyment and to give people recognition for their achievements.

I hope the CFL continues to be enjoyable for all those who take the time to keep this league so competitive.

And I thought I was the only one getting these offers! Glad you brought it up, BagDaddyZ.

I was conflicted as to whether to say anything, because I really don't like to call out or embarrass anyone...but after kindly offering helpful advice while rejecting the first or second of these offers (stuff like, "Thanks but I am not interested in deals like this," and "You might have better luck packaging quality-for-quality,") to still get a third offer of that variety showed that he obviously was not listening and was simply spamming these offers to many of us, in bulk.

No offense Loriga, we're all here to have fun and we're not mad...but as BagDaddyZ said above, it's not really endearing you to the rest of the league.

It would probably be good to put a warning right on the trade accept screen warning new players whenever the system detects a starts-for-draft-picks trade in a Trial league.

Hopefully the owner in question is also just inexperienced and thinks that he is offering value when he is not. If that isn't true, and he is trying to just fish for a newbie to take the bait, that would be a problem.
