Rick Karl, former NYN SS, has agreed to terms with the front office to become Director of Player Development. When asked about his role, Karl responded, "I think that the talent pool was depleted during our championship runs and it is improving but there is a sense of general confusion as to which players to develop and how best to proceed. The current crop of pitching talent is outstanding, so my job will be to cull out the gems among the position players."When asked about his Hall-of-Fame quest, Karl joked, "I'll worry about that next year when I become eligible.
