No-hitter in 2nd career start

In the Mike Pizza League: The Milwaukee Crullers' Dave Estock threw a no-hitter today, sim 4-30-1973. The rookie rightie, at age 22 years and 180 days (if I'm counting correctly), struck out nine and walked six in only his second career start.

Very cool, six walks but a no hitter nonetheless .

Kid follows it up with 10 shutout innings in his next start - only to be let down by his bullpen.

His fate will be, one day, to get traded and leave behind only memories. sad.:(

I think the Mike Pizza League sounds a lot cooler than Mike Piazza League.

And then, less than a month later - another no-hitter, this time walking only one, against the same team. Sure, it's against the 7th place team... but since Milwaukee's in 8th, no one should sneer.

As of the end of MPL sim-1973, the kid now holds the league record for career no hitters. Finished 13-0 with a 4.30 ERA. Looking forward to this career...

In the 8th inning on sim 8-30-77, Estock struck out San Francisco's Alan Bonner to reach 1000 career strikeouts at age 26 years, 9 months, and 28 days. Not the sort of thing tracked in the stats easily, but I have to think that puts him pretty high on the list...
