New Dynasty Vision

I moved in the changes Chris sent over. Let's pound away at it and see if it works!

Note, you may have to dump your browser cache for it to work correctly.

I'm looking at the current Beta version with Mozilla 1.5.

All the links Chris mentioned seem to work.

It may be too late to offer suggestions, but here's one. Could you make it so a tooltip showing the player's name shows up when you mouseover the player on the field?

Everything looks great!

Netscape 7.02 on a Mac OS9.2 works perfectly! I love it.

Wow that's impressive! All kinds of places to click and have fun.

I ran through a few games and didn't see any issues. I'd actually like to see a setting where you could advance the action by pressing a button from play-to-play. Forwards and Backwards would be nice.

There is one. Does that not work for you?

That's theoretically possible. In fact, if you hit the Pause button and then click on the "Faster" button, it may do just that....

If there is a tooltip, it doesn't work on a mac, but then again, netscape on a mac never reads alt tags.

Tyson, it doesn't look right... did you get the stylesheet changes in?

Uh, oh. On my test page I don't have the menu system. It looks like I'm having a namespace conflict with the menus. Unfortunately, the menu JavaScript has been obfuscated so I can't read it.

I'll try to fix this when I get home...

Do you see the tooltips if you hover over the league names on the out of town scoreboards?

ahhh yes, I do see those.

Those use TITLE instead of ALT. I'll switch the other to use TITLE as well.

Not sure if this was what Chris was referring to or not up above, but when I go to the Dynasty Vision on IE 5 I can no longer bring up any of the drop down menus (even once it's done or I cancel it for the full recap and box score).

Yep, that's what I meant. It looks like a conflict with the browser detection code I had to put in.

Chris - I moved over the estyles thing. Sorry, I forgot to do that earlier.

I think if we change the var browser to be something else, it should work. The menus already do some browser detection, you can look at the browser variable and it should contain things like "Opera" "IE6" "NS6", but I don't think it will have everything you need.

Same thing here with Moz 1.5/win32.

That's what I'm going to try.

Most of them look right now. Did I forget to send you an updated class for "sbstathead"? It should have a couple of subclasses under it. (I don't have access to my Sent Items from home right now.)

No, it doesn't work that way after all, but that's the way I'll make it work so I don't have to add another button.

If you want to take a crack at it yourself before I get home, Broswer only appears in a couple of places: at the end of browserdetect.jsp, there's a "var browser=new (something); change that browser to oBrowser. In dynastyvision.js, right after the variable definitions is where I do the browser-specific flags, probably on the second screen; change all those instances from browser to oBrowser. That's it.

I'm having the same problem on IE 6. It used to not do that before. I don't know what's wrong now.

Yep, that seemed to be the problem. I used oBrowser and it did the trick.

As people are looking at this, here's things to be looking for:

- Line score display issues in extra inning games

- Checking to see if the line score at the top and the line score on the DynastyVision have the same hits and errors. (You'll have to let a game run all the way through to check this.)

- Display glitches when fast-forwarding to late innings.

- Display glitches on substitutions (PH, RP, DR). I think I have these right, but this was the last code to go in so it hasn't been tested well.

- Scrolling problems. I know that after fast-forwarding to a late inning it takes a couple of plays for the scroll to catch up.

- Display glitches with long player names, long team names, and high numbers of runs or hits in an inning or game.

- Links going where they're supposed to, especially after a substitution. All links should always open in a new window.

- Whether or not you see a scrolling window. Everyone except NS6 and under and IE5 and under on the Mac should get a scrolling window; NS6 and IE5 on Mac users should get a clipped window showing the last five lines. If you get a scrolling window but it doesn't autoscroll, please dell me what browser, version and OS you're on. If you get the clipped window and you are not using NS6 or IE5 on a Mac, again please let me know what browser, version and OS you're on.

Plus, a question: If you click on a link to look at another game on the out-of-town scoreboard (or, in fact, any link), should I automatically pause the game?

Thanks for everyone's help!

I let this game run to the end, and never clicked >|

After the game ended, under "DUE UP FOR BOS", the first row says "undefined" with blank batter & average, and the next 2 rows list position/player/avg.

Is that for the pitcher's spot?
