Johnny Romero and Babe Sisco elected -- HOF ballot 1998

February 26, 2012 at 02:21AM View BBCode

Here are this year's candidates. As always, if you think I missed someone, state a case. Please vote either on this thread or via U2U. If you are voting "none," let me know that, too, as election is based on the majority of ballots cast and a majority of owners taking part. Candidates need 75% of the votes cast for election. Thanks!

Johnny Romero

I don't see where all this love for Babe Sisco is coming from. his hitting and fielding stats are okay but far from great. he was a Catcher, that's all I can see... but even for a catcher, his stats are okay, maybe good but not really great...

Why the love for Sisco? Maybe because of the 12 AS appearances. Maybe its because you rarely find catchers that put up his kind of numbers for 1 or 2 years on SD, nonetheless an entire career. Maybe because if he put up those numbers in the real MLB, he'd be an easy favorite to get in, as there are only 2 catchers in the HoF with better numbers than what he put up here.

You have to realize, by him being a catcher, he missed out on about 15 games a year that he would have played in any other position. Give him those games, and you probably see his HR go over 400, RBI go over 1500 and his Runs scored would e pretty close too.

Johnny Romero and Babe Sisco are 1998's selections for the Hall. Congrats!

I'll have the 1999 in a few days (been running a bit behind). Thanks for taking the time to participate.
