Veteran [url=http://footballbeta.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=176849]Carl Peneranda[/url] will back up Jackson for the remainder of the season and then decide whether to continue in New Orleans or look elsewhere for the 1980 season. Peneranda has been the Bontemps Roulez starter since being drafted #2 overall in 1964 and ranks in the top 5 of most passing categories in BPFL history. Peneranda lead New Orleans to a Super Bowl win in his rookie year, after the team went 2-14 in 1963, and also lead the Bontemps Roulez to Championships in 1971 and 1973.
New Orleans coach Jimmy McGinty summed things up pretty clearly when he said: "We're losin' anyway so we might as well see what the kid can do" .
