I'll take it - EFL Wildcard game

Seven first downs, only 155 yards in offense and less than 25 minutes of possession but I'll take the final result, San Francisco 13 Hamilton 9.

Three fumbles lost and the decision to kick the field goal when trailing 13-6 on our one yard line with less than four minutes to play spell defeat for the Hamiltonians in a game we had no right to win.

Rookie QB Hose Manning is efficient in his first playoff start and we head off to Tampa for the Conference final.

The NY-BR game was nothing pretty either. We each turned it over 4 times playing in heavy snow.

But the Scenicruisers' bid for 3 straight SB titles is still alive. Next stop: Tulsa. We were the only team to beat the Toasters this year, so let's see if we can do it again.

Mack the Great puts up another monster SB game: 32/38, 512 yards, 4 TD.

He couldn't quite match the 45-51-530 he put up against the T&B last year, but it was another virtuoso performance.

Three straight for the Scenicruisers!

Why on earth did we kick the FG there? Argh ....

It is totally illogical, even after kicking the field goal you still have to score another touchdown to take the lead.

Our defense was opportunistic though, which has been the secret to this team's success. If anyone needs a good Sim defensive coordinator I'm your guy.

Good question... Was it settings or an error? What are your settings in that situation?

The second fourth down rule on the kicking page would be the one to apply here, and the game did follow your settings.

The default for that rule is to go for it if there are 2:30 or less left to play and the play in question happened at 3:50. The default should probably be 4 or 5 minutes. Thoughts?

You are probably right. Once again, the plethora of minute details and decision making combinations has resulted in an illogical result. Why would that be governed by "kicking" settings anyway? I thought that by setting my "two-minute offense" to start earlier than the 2 minute mark, I could encourage more risk taking near the end. (I think my 2-minute offense goes into effect with 5 or 6 minutes to play in each half.)

Kicking has always been controlled separately because it's too complicated to integrate into the individual strategy pages. I don't think this is a case of a "plethora of minor details" so much as just a poorly chosen default value.

You're right. Poor choice of words on my part, coming from my bitter defeat. :)
