Does strength matter for RBs?

This is sort of out of left field but I drafted this guy in the beta league with the intention of playing him at RB.

He has 85 exe and 83 crry and is a 73 overall as a RB. His speed, agility and Break Tckl are mediocre (72/55/67 respectively). But he has a strgth of 96. I'm training up his footwork (1/1 IC converted in each brk tkl and aglty rating so far). My thinking is that his strength should be a significant factor but so far he's been a dud averaging <3yrds/carry. I realize that my O-Line are not great run blockers so this has something to do with the poor numbers but my other backs are in line with the league average.
Is this a fruitless excersise? Does strength matter at all for RBs?

I think it matters a lot for FB, and I would suspect for a nimble HB it should make some positive impact. People didn't like tackling Earl Campbell very much. In this guy's case, though, the low agility and so-so speed probably hurt as much as the strength helps.
Try him at TE, where his size and catching could be assets.

Strength is good on middle runs if you need to break through the line... on the other hand, it can slow him down a bit and make him easier to catch on long runs.

!st game, Stanly steamed for 155 yds on 33 carries and a TD. The Steamroller. Indy had no answer for him.
But unfortunately, Lance did what Lance always does....he stole it scoring 21 points in the 4th. My QB made it easier by caughing up the ball deep in our own end.
I think I'll try him at WR next :P

He rates as 86 at FB, 73 at HB, 70 at TE and 61 at WR.
Since you already have another good FB, I don't see why you wouldn't at least try him at TE.
