OK, I'm calling censored

Just read the most recent trade complaint, which DOESN'T involve me and you absolutely have to be kidding. There is nothing at all wrong with that deal. One of our owners needs to leave the league or find something else to do with his time. Absolutely censored .

Is this the NYN - CHA trade? If so, I tend to agree with the complainant.

2 'on their last legs' players for a probable mid-range first round pick and a reasonable prospect seems a bit off to me.

Hey that's no mid-range first round pick. Maybe 15th or 16th :P. And the prospect isn't anything special. Seems to me Chicago wanted to compete and thought the closer might help him make the playoffs. I wouldn't have done that deal because I have a good closer, but it's not outrageous or anything. If Yellow Gloves doesn't make the playoffs and Clay goes -4/-7 in the OS, that's the risk he chose to take. But if Clay puts him over the top and he wins the WS with his help, it was a good bet. I see nothing unethical about it.

Anyway let whoever protest every trade and stomp their little foot all they want. It takes 3 to overturn.

I chose my wording carefully Lemaster and it was 'reasonable' not 'good'.

Firstly, let me just clarify - I wasn't implying anything unethical on the part of the 2 owners concerned and I can see why the trade might make sense, both to Chicago and certainly to New York.

The broader issue for other league owners though is to decide whether a fair price has been paid - for that 1st round pick in particular. If any of us decide it hasn't and that as a result we've been disadvantaged by the trade it seems reasonable that it?s raised and as CCox says, see if other owners feel the same way.

This is a perfectly reasonable use of the complaints system to my mind.

Yeah totally agree with Nestor.

I don't want to be implicated in this as a problem maker since I'm new to the league and this seems to be a new issue for the league. I must admit that I may have started the protest in the Pat Wayenberg and KC trade that was just cleared. I made a mistake their as I thought an issue had already been raised because at that time it was still showing "vote on trade" rather than "protest this trade" as it does now. I haven't done any of the other protests though and I would never abuse the system.

A lot of people were confused by the initial wording.

A witch hunt doesn't serve any purpose here. Let's assume each deal was challenged on its own merits (after all there were 3 votes to overturn the 1 deal) for different reasons by different people. My mantra is 'everyone evaluates talent differently'.

Don't sweat it.

* The interface was confusing and potentially misleading.
* The anonymity makes it easy to take the pulse of the league without fear of reprisals.
* The convenience allows us to use the system more liberally than before and now for reasons of self-interest as well as protecting the interests of the league.

We'll adapt. Have fun!

If we don't watch out, we will become as dysfunctional as the Big-12.
