Interceptions...

WTF?

My QB had a QB rating over 100, has an accuracy rating of A+, yet has thrown 5 picks through 3 quarters against the worst team in the league.

Even if this happened (which it NEVER does in the NFL), it seems ridiculous that my backup wouldn't come in.

It never has happened in the NFL? Really? Peyton Manning and Tom Brady and Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers have never thrown 5 INT's in a game? And if they did, they were replaced by their backup?

I'm glad that your QB has had really good luck previously, I'm sorry that he is having a rough game (it does happen sometimes).

The simple fact is that your starter probably remains a better option than your backup. Past performance isn't taken into account for each play, only the player's current ratings. So, you probably don't want him to be benched anyway.

I was speaking generally.

I had two picks though 6 games, then 5 in three quarters against a bad defense.

That is EXTREMELY unusual.

In addition, I don't believe that Aaron Rodgers has ever thrown 5 picks in a game. I'm not sure that Brees has either.

Being replaced by a backup is purely based on your Sub In/Sub Out settings for fatigue. Are the ints listed as "poor throws" or on wide/short passes? If so, it's the QB's fault; if not, it's either the WR's fault or it's an excellent defender. If you see this a lot on "short" throws, your game plan may have more long passes than your QB's Throw Power can support.

If they are not QB issues, you may want to push up your WR Sub Out setting a bit so you have fresh WR's in the game more often.

Did the game in question have high winds or poor weather? You will see more wide & short throws in bad weather.

I think it was quite strange.

Clear - winds 8MPH

The picks:

1) (normal throw) B+ pass defender, B- execution, CB, 26 yd att

2) (poor throw - legit) B pass defender, B+ execution, LB, 4 yd att

3) (normal throw) Same guy as above, 3 yd att

4) (normal throw) B+ pass defender, C execution, CB, 14 yd att

5) (normal throw) Same guy as above, 4 yd att

Not throwing deep

Aside from one bad throw against a guy with decent execution...... I just don't get it.

I remember a game where Jim Kelley threw 5 picks in the first half!
The Bills came back & won.

On almsot every single throw there is at least some chance of interception, no matter how small. So theoretically there is a chance that every single pass will be intercepted, and if we simulate enough games theoretically it will happen eventually. Sometimes the random numbers fall weird.

That's not to say that there isn't the possibility of a problem in the code; I've seen results that I attributed to bad random numbers but eventually saw a pattern and found a problem. So I will keep an eye out for it. For now, I'll take a look at the short pass code and make sure something's not amiss.

For example, my QB threw 3 picks in the final 3:30 of the 2nd quarter of last season's Gamma Sim Bowl.

But otherwise he was very effective and led us to a 24-20 win. Interceptions happen, but they don't mean the game is broken.
