August 28, 2011 at 04:31PM View BBCode

Ramon Pitlock 1B______20 , 83 power vs righties
Ron Taylor CF______20 , 58 overall
Ray Carlyle SP______22 , 64 overall
Willie Mays CF/LF____21 , 60 overall
Bob Gibson SP______21 , 63 overall
G. Thompson RP______23, 68 overall
J. Espy C_______25, 61 overall
Jack Nelson 2B______19
Draft Pick 2033 Rd: 2 (TOR)
Draft Pick 2033 Rd: 2 (PHI)
Draft Pick 2033 Rd: 1 (PHI)

Will trade all of the above as a package for good productive older players around 32/33. Looking for SP, RP, Catcher, CF, possibly another SP.

* I have grown tired of this terrible minor league system and have decided to try and make one more run at the playoffs before leaving (hence the trade) this league for one with a more realistic minor league system. cheers

Just my opinion, but it doesn't seem like it would be fair to the rest of the teams in the league (including the person that takes over his team) for someone to make this trade with him.

That last statement by Mijlee555 is just lame. So I am not supposed to be able to manage my team for the last 2 seasons right, get real.
Sorry but I own the team and have a right to make one last run at the playoffs. This is usually what a team does when they want to make a run at the playoffs, trade younger players and picks for productive vets who could push them over the top and into the playoffs. Everyone does it. Tell me you have never traded younger players or picks for vets that you thought would get you over the hump and either into the playoffs or win a championship.

If I have any players you want, send me an offer. I know I have paid too much for veterans over and over in an effort to win a championship. Winning is what the game is about.

No need to be so defensive (we all know what that usually means). As I said, just my opinion. Of course you have the right, you paid for the team. You can do what you want. I am just saying that most people would not decimate their team to get a bunch of 32+ year old players. The only reason you are doing it to the extreme you are considering is because you are quitting. It is not the fault of the remaining league owners that you decided after you joined that you didn't like the league rules.

Given that we have turnover in owners on a regular basis, this is going to happen. It has been my experience that most respectable owners would not even entertain making a deal with you unless it is one that most likely would have been made if you were to remain in the league. That, of course, is subjective.

I completely understand that one can argue on either side of this. In the end, you bought the team and can do what you want.

I understand the frustration. It is pretty weak and a bit stats-whoring

Yeah we all make trades and sometimes overpay to get to the promised land, but at least we stick it out to clean up the mess. Running a franchise into the ground and then passing on the clean up is not great. Nothing in the rules stopping you though and all we can do is 'frown upon' it.

I can understand the frustration, before the last renewal I felt much the same way and even posted to that effect. But i decided to stick it out and had a very good run, even though we repeatedly fell short in the playoffs. This league is by far the hardest league I am in to build a winner. The anti-tank rule is the biggest obstacle IMHO but what ever the reason, it is tough. I have chosen to look at it as a challenge and so I am struggling to rebuild again.

I had a terrific ametuer draft in 2006 and have been blessed since......just throwing that in there.

I do like all the other rules though in this league.....just sayin.

I will say this, the predators have been pretty good since I started....I want them to stay. Even if they do not like the league rules OR some of the owners opinions, I think they have managed a pretty good franchise and I hope they stick it out.

Despite what some of you think (which I could care less) I am not doing this to ruin the team. I am trying to do this to make one more run at the playoffs which every owner has a right to. It is impossible for me to trade away future picks that a new owner would have. As one owner said (glideasy4) that he wished he had the players to trade me but in this league if he had all of my youngsters half of them would be wasting away because you only have so many CP 's to go around and it gets to the point where there is no point in drafting players anymore because you have no points available. This league has become a waste of time just like its minor league system wastes away promising young players. I was hoping to stick around to see SP Rick Raftus hit 300 wins and 3000 K's but he most likely will miss those targets before i leave. This is also why I want to trade to get better older players - to help Rick win more games. cheers

What is the big deal if Predators wants to trade away his younger players to try to win the WS.

Isn't that the whole point of the league, to win the WS. Smashers does it all the time and has been successful at it, winning the WS and playing in another.

If you know you are not going to renew, what else should he do, just be middle of the road for 2yrs while the prospects develop. How does that help him reach his goal.

Lets be honest, most prospects don't pan out like we all think they will and if you can get a proven stud to help you win now, more power to you.

All teams that have won a WS in this league have made a trade of a lot of prospects or picks to get a vet to get them over the top. A lot of the time we way over pay for that vet but if we get to another WS it is worth it.
