First Inductees into the HOF

Here is the first group of 11 inductees into the Sim Dynasty Beta Hall of Fame -- it includes anyone who retired in 1960 and earlier.

Jack Greenfield (RP). The first round pick of the Brooklyn Bums, Jack played three years in the big apple, picking up three World Series rings. Greenfield was traded to the Detroit Gearheads at the beginning of the 1953 season, where he played the rest of his career. Greenfield won the Fireman award three times and made 6 All-Star appearances. He finished his career with 318 saves, including 8 seasons over 30.

Bill Byrd (SP). Bill was the Baltimore Elite Giantâ??s first pick, and he stayed in Baltimore for 8 full years, helping them to three AL pennants before finishing his career with stints in Cleveland and Washington. Byrd was a 6-time All-Star and ended his career with a record of 154-73.

Hoss Radbourn (SP). Radbourn was selected by the New York Black Yankees with the 2nd overall pick in the draft, but was quickly traded to Philadelphia, where he spent the rest of his career. Although he only pitched 9 years, he was dominant during that time. He made 5 All-Star appearances and won two â??Killersâ?? (the Kilroy Monterey award for best pitcher). His career record was 134-59.

Bill Toland (SP). The Boston Monsters made Toland the 3rd overall pick in the draft. He spent 7 full seasons in Boston, leading the Monsters to two AL pennants. He then made a brief stop in Kansas City before spending the remainder of his career in Detroit. Bill was a 5-time All-Star, won one Killer and finished in the top five 3 other times. His career record was 157-74.

Ubaldo Schulz (2B). Schulz was the 8th round pick of Cleveland, where he played one season before being traded to the Chicago Untouchables. He spent 5 seasons in Chicago before moving on to Washington, where he played another 5 seasons, winning 2 World Series and 3 AL pennants. Ubaldo was a 7-time All-Star and finished his career with a .308 batting average and 962 RBI.

Chuck Frey (C). Frey was Bostonâ??s 7th round pick, and he spent 7 ½ seasons there before being traded to Kansas City. He played for 3 pennant winners and picked up a World Series ring with KC in 1958. Frey, a 6-time All-Star, finished his career with a .295 average and 964 RBI.

Wally McGee (C). Washington, where he played 4 years before being traded to Detroit, picked Wally in the first round. A 5-time All-Star, McGee finished his career with an incredible .320 batting average and a .398 on-base percentage.

Orator Schafer (C). Philadelphiaâ??s third round pick, Orator was quickly traded to the New York Black Yankees, where he spent the rest of his 8-year career. Orator played in 3 All-Star games and finished his career with a .298 batting average and a .563 slugging percentage.

Willie Mays (CF). Pittsburgh picked Willie in the first round and he spent his entire career in the steel city. Mays was a 6-time All-Star (all as a starter) and finished his career with a .307 batting average.

Hank Kimbro (LF). Kimbro was picked by Baltimore in the 6th round and played 8 full seasons there, helping the Elite Giants to 3 AL pennants. Hank was traded in 1958 and finished up his career in Cleveland. Kimbro played in 6 All-Star games, crushed 293 home runs and knocked in 967 runs in his prestigious career.

Scott Lipetri (LF). A 4th round pick, Lipetri spent his first season in Kansas City and Chicago, before moving on to Detroit where he played the final 7 years of his career. Although he had a short career, Scott was a 3-time All-Star and finished with 272 homers and 846 RBI.
