Week 8

You know it's a strange game when your game-winning series nets your opponents points...

Yet, that's exactly what happened in the Colorado-San Francisco game today. Colorado clung to a slim 3-pt lead going into the fourth quarter, but their defense was on the field watching the SF take the ball and move it through 1st down, 2nd down, and 3rd down conversions, whether by luck, skill, or defensive penalties, it didn't matter. They even knocked SF's starting RB out of the game with a rib fracture (47 days). But that injury would be one series too late to stop SF's offense from getting the 2-yd line--too late for SF that is. On the 2-yd line, 1st down, and down by 3 late, you're going to give your starting RB the ball. Makes sense. Just probably didn't expect the 34th round B overall Colorado LB to end up with the ball at the end of the play. SF got a safety on the very next play, but that only got them within 1 instead of a touchdown (win) or field goal (tie). Colorado lost earlier in the season by the same score, so I guess they just wanted to make sure they didn't give up yet another lead.

The Hamilton ground game did it again: 43 carries, 5.1 yards per carry; with similar results to last week, a 21-10 victory over a very good New England team. 6-1 feels pretty good at the moment. We will enjoy it while it lasts.
