I would think that 1st and 5 is preferable to 2nd and 4.
small potatoes but.....
1st and 10 for the SCRAPPLES, they line up in a I Formation; the Ice Frogs line up in a 4-3.
Chet Lott takes the snap, hands off to Mark Lewis.
There is a flag on the play.
Mark Lewis runs up the middle for a 6 yard gain.
PENALTY: WIN, Offside by #95 Ed Miller, 5 yards.
The penalty is declined.

I've seen a couple times, where a team declines a 5 yard penalty on 1st down, after gaining 6 yards (see below).I would think that 1st and 5 is preferable to 2nd and 4.

Right now the decline is straightforward: if I gain more yards than I pick up with the penalty and the down just played was 1st or 2nd down, I decline.--Chris

You could put in an adjustment that sets a new down as worth an additional number of yards (I believe ~3 would be accurate). As KCLV says, though, not a big deal.

I still think penalty logic in general needs to be worked on...try in Beta?Pages: 1
