Where we are

I feel like I'm starting to nitpick and obsess, but there are some very real tasks that need to be accomplished here and I'm behind schedule doing it.
The production game engine is still open to both blitz and pass abuse and has some serious bugs like the kickoff return for TD bug, so I'd like to get the new engine over there ASAP if it's a) better than what's there and b) not severely broken or open to further abuse. I know it's not perfect yet, but I need to get these issues fixed, get moving forward on multi-season, and then I can come back and massage things into perfection.
With that in mind, here are my thoughts:
Pass abuse: At this point, long pass abuse is in my mind pretty dead. The Knights seem to be riding right along the line between heavy pass and abuse and are still moving the ball well, while the Abusers can't find a point in a pin factory.
Jetpac: Are you using the stock Pass Attack, a custom heavy passing strategy, or are you playing an abusive strategy that I just haven't caught yet?
Running: I'm getting conflicting comments it seems that running is either too successful or not successful enough. The numbers are still low; the top rushing team is a 4 yards/carry when that should be the average.
Blitz: The heavy blitz can still be very effective, perhaps too effective. Do I need to tighten the screws on this more now, or is it better than the production version at least?
Other thoughts on where we are? At this point I feel like we are better than the production engine and I plan to move over the changes tonight if there's nothing showstopping.

Pass Abuse: IMO, the changes that are currently in place for Beta will effectively eliminate the long pass abuse, which is probably the number one complaint/comment on the boards at the moment. I still think that this should be situationally motivated (i.e. last 5 1st Down plays vs. last 5 "any" plays) but it is much better than it was.
Running: I can tell you as soon as week 10 has finished simulating. I'm playing a 100% run offense and I'm moving the ball OK. We scored 10 points in the first quarter thanks to some really good defense.
Blitz: It is better than the production version. At the moment, it doesn't seem like very many people on the "real" site have caught on that they can dominate by blitzing. I think that Rooster and I are pushing the limits in beta without crossing the line (I think that I am Maz Blitzing 35-50% of the time in every situation and I haven't had a single offense "catch on" yet, but it just started with the OAK game). It needs to be tightened up a bit more, but I think it is good enough to go live with it at this point.

I think the blitz thing is OK, I still think running numbers are a little low, not sure why and I can't figure out how to get my TE involved in the offense .
There are a number of little statistical anomalies, like the fact that the YDs/game total on my individual stats rushing page shows as 36.3 when it should be around 115, the games started is wrong for lots of players, the punting average thing is wrong but this is nit picking.
Right now the beta game is much better than the regular side, I think you should move the changes over
but I think you should inform the masses what the changes are about.

That is, effectively, the issue; the TE's aren't helping on run blocking. I'm going to try to fix that tonight which should elevate the run numbers on the strong side at least.

Um, that's not little. :)

Can you give me a couple of examples? I have a standing stats issue that I think is related to this but I have not been able to spot it.

Just finished posting a news item on it.

There's a fine line there between valid AI and abuse prevention, and I want to keep the mechanisms separated so they are easy to maintain.

Blitzing on the live site is far less effective, yet there are people reportedly abusing it.

I think one solution is to increase fatigue on the players doing the blitzing; this will not only reduce the effectiveness of the blitz but take a toll on them in pass coverage too.

Re: The game started, on my Individual Stats rushing report Richard Brown shows 5 game started, he has started every game this season as indicated on his player card.
As for the punting stats, it's all in this thread, unless that's been fixed .

Ah. Perfect example, I think I know what's causing that. He's a fullback, it's probably not showing games where he has no carries, so one of my database joins needs to be an outer join, not an inner join.
Thanks!

This should be fixed.
