Jack Lambert Sim Bowl

Just a short review of the season and playoffs, if it's any help to the designers:
Pretty well-played regular season, a lot of low-scoring games. Loved the "snowy field" effect.
Playoffs was where the problem started, for me. Of course I was a lewser as a home division champ, but the teams that did extremely well passed deep a LOT. Quickly I realized that the QB/WR ratings went through the roof in the Playoffs, which isn't necessarily unrealistic but was pretty contrary to what I saw in the regular season. Vastly contrary.
The Sim Bowl was exciting, for sure, but probably too unrealistic as well. Too "Madden." Both passers went for 400 yards and three receivers went for almost 200 receiving APEICE in a 33-31 shootout. Six interceptions between them. So I didn't care for that too much. Defenses generally have the advantage in big games, and both defenses were afterthoughts. I haven't seen other league championship games, so I can't say if this is aberrant.
But still, I enjoyed the "preview" experience. With obvious tweaks, the game will be quite worth immersing oneself in. Look forward to it!

In the Tester's forum, we've identified some weaknesses in the passing portion of the simulation related to defending the long pass, and some possible solutions. We are about to start a test run with one team speciffically configured to attempt to abuse the passing system. So hopefully we'll have these long pass issues worked out within the next week or so.
The high number of interceptions is due to the high incidence of long passing, and is meant to deter that sort of strategy. Once we get the other long pass issues under control, the "all long pass strategy" should be quite the unattractive option.
