Injured player question
March 01, 2011 at 02:51AM View BBCode
I don't think I can link to the injury report for previous weeks, so I'll just have to go with my word on this one. I had a guy who was hurt for approximately 4 days more, and probable for the next game. After missing that game, it was listed that he was out for 2 more days. After missing that game, it now says he still has another day to heal.
I understand those are just approximations since it depends on the player's health (C- in this case, which is bad, but I didn't think
that bad). Does this have something to do with the fact that he's been hurt for over 70 days, and the injury is lingering?

[url=http://football.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=2025]Here is the player card[/url]
It says he's out for about 67 days, and I realize that's only an estimate. But by my count he's been out about 85 days (did the math in my head, but it's somewhere in that range), and he's had single digit days injury time remaining for a few weeks

There may be too much "play" in the healing process. I'll take a look.

It looks like for long injuries the healing process is disproportionately hurting lower health players, adding about 20-25% to their healing time, and reducing healing time about 20-25% for higher health players. I'm fixing this to even it out.

Milky Malone - FTL - Injured For 17 Days But Out Through 12/4
March 01, 2011 at 01:28PM View BBCode
My quarterback got hurt and was projected to be out 17 days, which 10/30 at that time.
Now it is 12/04 and he is still projected to be out 1 more day.
Maybe I am missing something, but a 17 day estimated injury recover period should not go for over 5 games, but maybe 3 games, at most?
Someone please let me know if I am doing something wrong with math, but I have lost my starting quarterback for a bunch more than I should have, which has affected the team's standing.
Is there a "glitch" in the coding of injured players and their return?
Though his health is only a "C+", this time out is a bit excessive based on original projections and unrealistic.
Thanks!

I'm wondering about the same thing. This player has A health and suffered a 24-day injury on Nov. 13, which is Week 10.
We have played 3 more games since then, and he is still listed as out for the following week and the week after, which would be Dec. 11 and 18. So this 24-day injury to an A health player is running past 5 weeks.
Seems a little off, no?

I think the injury bug is only removing one "real time day" from the "game time day injured" Because I have had a player out now for over 5 games = 35 days game time but his original injury was only for 19 days and now it still says he will be out for 4 more days and as each game is played that number is only reduced by one so it looks like he will still be out for 4 more games instead of days = 28 more days plus the original 35 days = 63 days out for a 19 day injury ????????? that makes it kind a hard to make predictions on your future line ups when you expect a player back after 3 games and he is out for the season on a 19 day injury report lol.
Here is my original report which I was advised to move it from game enhancements over to hear so here it is.
my guard Bruce Matthews was originally injured in week 8. here is the link
http://football.simdynasty.com/boxscore.jsp?boxscoreid=890&thid=91
The injury was for 19 days = just less then 3 weeks or at most he misses 3 games.
He has now missed 5 weeks = 5 games (1 week was a bye week) and it still says he will be injured for another 4 days ???

Yeah, there must be a bug for computing injury time right now. [url=http://football.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=5155]This guy[/url] was injured for 3 days during Week 13, and after the game he was immediately listed as probable for Week 14. He has now missed week 14 and week 15, and he is now listed as being out for 2 more days instead of 3.

The way healing is done was changed a couple of days ago to reduce these inequities, but it only affects healing going forward.
The way it will work now is for each week of healing, there is a 20% chance (this percentage falls as injuries get less than 20 days) that the healing time will be reduced or increased one or two days. Whether the time is increased or decreased is dependent on health: a player with 50 (C+) health has a 50/50 chance of an increase or a decrease; a player with 0 (F) health has a 2 in 3 chance that healing time will be increased and a player with 100 (A+) health has a 2 in 3 chance of healing time being decreased.
Before I made the changes, the numbers were much more dramatic and injury time were all over the map. Players with short injuries often got injury times dramatically lengthened. This won't happen anymore.

Chris, ever since you put these changes in place, ALL players that are injured in ALL of my leagues are only healing 1 day per week instead of 7.
Examples:
[url=http://news.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=29271]Kurt Parker[/url] - injured on 11-6-60 for "17 days", league date is now 12-11-60, which is 35 days later. He still has an estimated 6 days left to heal. I believe that you made the injury change 3 days ago. So, he healed 7 days the week before you made the change, but only 1 day for each of the past 4 days, putting him at 6 days left.
[url=http://news.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=29871]Les Bashaw[/url] - injured on 12-4-60 for 9 days. League date is 12-11-60, estimated time out is 8 days.
[url=http://news.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=56700]D.D. Robertson[/url] injured 2 weeks ago for 6 days, now has 4 days left.
[url=http://news.topindustrynews.com/player.jsp?id=60752]Freddie McWilliams[/url] injured for 72 days on 9-4, healed 7 days per "week" until 4 days ago, then started healing only 1 day per week. Has 18 days left as of 11-20.
Only 1 day is being processed instead of 7 days during the time between each week. This is true across all leagues with all injured players and has been happening since you put the changes in.

I think there's actually two different issues here.
Each week is broken into two parts: Sunday and Monday. When a game is in progress, it is Sunday; at all other times, it is the Monday following the previous game.
After the last quarter (4th or overtime ) completes, the calendar is updated to Monday and one day worth of healing is run. When the next game starts, the league suddenly fast-forwards to the next Sunday, improvements are run, players with C drills are set to 100% Conditioning, and six days of healing are run; players that get fully healed at this point are assigned a Conditioning level based on how close to the game they finished healing.
So if a game finishes and the date ticks over and only 1 day came off healing, that is normal. If a game then starts and no additional healing comes off, that's a bug.
I suspect a bug got introduced that is skipping the Monday to Sunday healing for some players, while Sunday to Monday healing is progressing normally.
So I'm going to go through the whole process again, run some test games on my development server, and figure out where the discrepancy is, and then see if I can apply a corrective action to the main database to "catch up" anyone who flat out missed healing.

I know I've posted this on other threads, but for the sake of closing this thread out, this should all be fixed now. There will still be some variance but it should not be nearly as dramatic as it was.
