Receivers.... Hands vs. Catch

February 17, 2011 at 11:33PM View BBCode

Which is more important?- my WR's are not great but when my QB goes there way I want to make sure someone is going to catch the ball.... I had too many drops(6) in my 1st game which my passing suffered going 12/33 197yds...so 28% of my incompletions were drops...

Catching is more important for catching. Hands is a slight factor there (I think), but it primarily deals with how well they go after a loose ball or how often they fumble.

The game guide (Help>Game Guide) has a description of each attribute that you may find helpful.

I believe Catch is just what it states. WR prime quality. Carry is most to do with fumbles while running , Hands. is Dexterity. Long snappers, Holders, Punters , QBs, Linemen getting hands up . etc. As well as fumble recovery.

Hands does not directly factor into the reception itself, but it does factor into the occasional dropped pass. And, as Classics noted, it's primary for centers, holders, punters, and QB's and factors high in fumble recovery.

Carry is the ability to protect the ball while still running at top speed. A safety with lower speed than an RB can still catch up to him if he has a low Carry, as the RB must slow down to keep from losing the ball. It also determines (along with other factors) how well an RB can break through the line.
