Help!

January 21, 2011 at 01:32AM View BBCode

I just tried to make some roster moves to position by pathetic group of players for the upcoming season and this happened:

1962-03-31 The Brooklyn Kings have designated Fred Beauchamp for assignment. The Brooklyn Kings have designated Mike Wilson for assignment. The Brooklyn Kings have designated Al Greer for assignment. The Brooklyn Kings have designated Ken Ancker for assignment.

1962-03-31 The Brooklyn Kings have promoted Fred Beauchamp to the major league team. The Brooklyn Kings have promoted Mike Wilson to the major league team. The Brooklyn Kings have promoted Al Greer to the major league team. The Brooklyn Kings have promoted Ken Ancker to the major league team.

The Kings just lost four players we can not afford to lose. How can I reclaim them? Must I wait until 4/6? If so, will the salaries of players I would like to drop right now, 3/31, but must hold on the roster until 4/6 before cutting them loose be counted against my team total for the entire season?

Yikes! I don't know if this resulted from a code issue or a browser issue or a combination of the two. I do not know how it could have happened. At least the team salary is millions of dollars below the cap. :)

Suggestions?

post it in support and tell tyson you dfa'ed them by accident. if he sees it, he will put them back on your team. and he should see it, tonight or tomorrow. say exactly what you want, like this

"I optioned them by accident. Please put them back on my team. Tim said you would do this, no problem, because you are such a nice guy."

make sure he knows who all the players are, you could put the links or whatever.

(but you should be able to reclaim them just as soon as the thing goes to april one.)

Hey Tim,
Since it is beta, I'm not going to go in and set these guys back on your team. Reclaim them best you can.

Do you think this happened due to a bug of some kind? What were you doing when this happened?

Thanks,
Tyson

i think he just probably optioned them, he should be able to reclaim them at any rate.

(if you wait until 4/6 you won't get them if anybody claims them, if nobody does, they will be in your minors. you can't claim them now?)

((when i say claim them, i mean, when you claim them ONE AT A TIME with your roster full, if it is full, ignore all the screens that come after, and you should find the one you claimed on your major league roster, with 26 players on it. then you have to demote or designate some player. DO NOT DESIGNATE THE SAME PLAYER AGAIN, OR YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO RECLAIM IT. you do this for each player, one at a time, sending something from the majors to the minors or the options each time. you can reclaim your players once per season. you optioned these in march, you should be able to claim them now, no problem. have you tried?))

Thanks, guys. Everything is cool. I have not used it in so long that I forgot I had the option of reclaiming each player as soon as we were able to submit claims.

I reclaimed the players in question. In the end, it will matter very little. During the off-season, the Kings were essentially shut out of the bidding for good talent. This season, we will suck big time. :( At least this only is a beta league. :D

Tyson, this issue originated when I attempted to promote the four players. My browser did not respond for several minutes. Then I resubmitted the form. When I reviewed the roster page, the players had disappeared.

My guess is that the initial attempt to promote the players succeeded to the point that they were transferred to the major league roster, but the check boxes were not cleared. Then, when I resubmitted the form, the checked check boxes associated with the four players resulted in the DFA transactions.

This probably is a rare fluke. My guess is that the code is fine. This kind of a code-browser interface issue may occur again, but I doubt you can enhance the code to mitigate the risk.
