So what happens if you are over the Cap ?

October 26, 2010 at 04:55PM View BBCode

Just noticed NY is over the cap at $80.30 million.

I have a couple of questions about this.

1) Were NY ever in compliance with the cap this season ?

1a) If they were in compliance, and I think they were, how were they allowed to go back over $80 million ?

2) What happens to a team who is over the cap ?

2) All players perform at 10 points worse than actual skill while they are under the cap and they miss out on 1 minor league IC per game.

Well that might help explain NY's $80.3 million team languishing in 5th place ........ oh wait they are NL NY so that in itself explains it .

No wonder no one would trade with me. I was willing to give away a player for a fifth round pick but no help was forthcoming. :-(

Plus, their management team stinks...both in SD and MLB.

Not entirely true, you rejected my offers for both Pena and Wrightstone .

I was willing to take a bloated contract off your hands but I'm not in the 'help clean up rogue's mess" business .:saint:

Fair enough...but I made reasonable deals and moves to get my salary down to $80.3 million...why would I give away Pena and Wrightstone for (relative) dreck?

Instead, I just wanted a little goodwill trade to get between $.5M and $1.0M off the books. But nooooooooooo......

;)

(But Seattle certainly [url=http://beta.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=61328]made out like a bandit[/url].)

Can't remember the Pena offer but Wrightstone was a $500K reliever, a 2nd round pick and a B overall 22 year old reliever, you chose to give away Anker for 3 beans and still left yourself over the cap.

You still could've got under the cap by waiving something like Ochoa and grabbing [url=http://beta.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?mode=player&playername=nobody&id=63363]this[/url] or [url=http://beta.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?mode=player&playername=nobody&id=62255]this[/url] or any number of $50K per year bodies.

I thought I was in good shape, but, by the time I realized I was not, the deadline for dropping players without cap penalty had passed.

(The deal left me under the cap, but the WW claims I subsequently made put me back over. As I stated...NY management stinks.)
