Good job, Tony!

You played a good season, and you were smart enough not to lose, what, 9 in a row?, at the beginning. (In hindrospect, I'm thinking that was a mistake on our part.)

This latest series afforded us one last chance to tie, and then take Jim J Bullock for the win, but I fear it was not to be.

And Steve, you're looking good. Hasn't it been a while since your boys made the playoffs?

Well, we "technically" played a one-game playoff against Philly back in 1975...I believe we lost our final 8 games of the season to end up in that playoff...but other than that, The Pittsburgh franchise has not been in the post-season...and with a Magic number of 2 with 6 games to go, 3 of which are against St. Louis...its still not a certainty.

I must admit, Scooter, after that horrible start, I never thought you'd be this close down the stretch...

You and me both, brother. Lemme check ...

Okay. 1-11, 6-15, 10-20. Those give us the general idea. I'd say the patheticness ended somewhere around there. We never ripped off a big skein of wins, but kinda clumb up slowly. I think there was one day, about 20 games ago, where we were in second place.

And hey, you know, as of this writing, we still could. We won't*, but we could.

Still all to play for Scooter.
Except for the mistake by Raben in the bottom of the 11th you could have just swept Detroit and we would be level now.
We have got to play at Kansas today. They are on a roll and if they sweep us we would both be on 84 with Washington maybe on 84 or even 85, so it's a big day today.

Chicago is well ahead of all 3 of us, so it's a big task for whoever makes the playoffs.

Like Washington, Detroit had a 1-11 run around game 50 and Kansas had something similar in the 2nd half of the season. There really is little between all 3 teams.
