A couple of things I'd like to see in Salary Leagues

1) Salaries listed pretty much everywhere, certainly on roster, player rankings page and on trade pages, ideally with final contract year as well.

ie: ($3.5 million/1953)

2) Cap commitment on free agent page so that when I add a bid it tells me what my overall cap commitment would be if I signed the free agent.

3) Some sort of ranking of free agents I've bid on. One of the problems as I see it with our free agent bidding is that it doesn't give me the chance to drop a bid the same day as I sign a free agent.

By that I mean, assume there are 3 top tier free agent shortstops available . In real life I might very well negotiate with all three but once one signs I would not continue to leave money on the table with the other two but in SIM I could theoretically sign all 3 in the same day and have 3 All Star SS and no money with which to sign other players.

This could be handled in two parts, part one allows the owner to state how many of each position he is willing to sign, then by ranking my choices 1, 2 and 3 with a proviso that if I sign one of a higher rank my bid would be cancelled on the others this issue could be avoided .

those all sound like good ideas, especially 1 and 3. 2 is nice but the others would enhance the game much more in my opinion

3 is a no-brainer in my opinion, would make this much more realistic.

#4) A drop down under "News" for "Free Agent Signings" .

In addition to places Roosters emphasized, seeing salaries on the minor league and promote/demote/waive pages would be helpful in deciding what minor leaguers to release.

Another thing that would be nice is if on the "View Bids" if only the final bid for each team was shown .

Somewhere down the line I'd also like to see competitive contracts for amateur draftees so that simply finishing last doesn't guarantee that you get the best player in the draft locked up until he's 28 for few dollars, for example Thompson would require more than $6.1 million for his first 6 years .

I finally have had a chance - very busy week - to begin to understand the custom rules and the process. I am looking forward to participating in the entire off season process. Is a summary of the salary-specific rules and the bidding process posted anywhere? If so, I must have overlooked it.

After reviewing many of the pages on the league site and preparing some initial bids, I definitely agree with the suggestions made by TR and thatrogue. I agree that they would enhance the game.

I especially like the ranking by position suggestion. Realistically, if a GM signs a big ticket free agent, he probably would pass on the others he might have been pursuing. Save the funds and pursue a player at another position... just as TR stated.

Again, I can hardly wait to see how the bidding process works.

Or do a ranking like the drafts where I sign up to 3 SP, up to 2 C etc.

I think Tyson has his hands full trying to keep the site from crashing every 17 seconds.
