apparently this has not corrected itself yet tyson, maybe because Baltimore signed him to a 2 year deal worth 0.0 mil? was he 1 of the mass signings that was just released?

The 4 of them OPS'd at .851, .856, .850 and .851, respectively, during last season.

Leo Fisher! He certainly left money on the table, choosing to sign on day 1 of bidding instead of letting things escalate. The Fisher signing was, in all honesty, a serious flaw. There is no way he leaves that much money on the table as a "hometown discount" for a team he played 55 games for.

You have to pay a premium to attract free agents when you're in Pittsburgh, Crandall will earn every dime .The Fisher signing was, in all honesty, a serious flaw. There is no way he leaves that much money on the table as a "hometown discount" for a team he played 55 games for.
Nice of you to reward his loyalty by benching him .

A) His A+ leadership has a huge impact. I don't remember the final % difference that we settled on for A+ guys, but I think it was close to 20%. Maybe this is too steep, maybe not. It certainly doesn't happen very frequently that a player shows up with A+ leadership who is also worth investing in for the future of your franchise.
B) The length of contract adjustment slightly benefited me because I offered to pay him for 2 seasons into decline, while the other offers (6 seasons?) were slightly decreased because they release him immediately after his decline.
C) Because we won a lot of games last season and made it to the WS, we have a team prestige of 1.099, which is a positive modifier of nearly 10%. When combined with the negative prestige of some of the competing team's bids, it made a difference of greater than 8% certainly. (In the AML, we did not apply ANY prestige until the OS after 1955, the formula is supposed to look at the previous 5 seasons' results.)
To be honest, I just threw a number out there for Fisher that I could afford, since my team salary is so high. I really didn't expect him to stay in KC.
I am curious though, how much of a discounted salary did Joe Mauer take in order to stay with his hometown Twins? I don't recall every detail of that negotiation, but I think that on the open free bidding market, he would be making at least 30% more than he is making now; which is about what the modifier would have been without the prestige influence, which I think should be nil until after the first 5 seasons of play.

Mauer is making $23 million per year on his new contract, a 30% premium would take it to $29.6 million per year or $2 million more per year than the currently highest paid player in baseball.
At $23 million per year Mauer is tied with CC Sabathia as the 3rd highest paid player in baseball, behind A-Rod and Ryan Howard. If Mauer took a "home town discount" it's not one you'd really notice too much, I'd say maybe 10%.
