Free Agents not waived from rosters?

August 27, 2010 at 02:06PM View BBCode

The OS has run, but the free agents have not been waived from their respective rosters yet. Does this code get processed with the ammy draft code?

Ham they sit there on rest until all the days of signings go, they move to the waiver wire after the last day of signings.

My free agents aren't on rest though. It would be awesome to be able to adjust my roster and stuff so I can figure out exactly what I need to acquire during the FA period, but I'm maxed at 25 guys and don't want to waive my FA's, cause I know that's a bad idea.

I agree with hammy, they shouldn't be on a roster if they are free agents .

This is done when the Amateur Draft runs. The reason for this is that the code also sets salaries, and the draft needs to run for this calculation to work.

This really should be changed if you intend to go sitewide with salary leagues, it's confusing and counter intuitive .

Ideally the free agents should go into a separate pool and be added to the rosters as they sign .

I might be able to move it from the Amateur Draft code and put it with the OffSeason. I'd have to investigate and make sure there isn't a good reason this can't be done.

perhaps you had it like that because in the inital signings these players signed and went to the minors. now i am supposing they must stay in the majors, somewhere, and be added, when they sign, to the majors of other teams (if they don't have options, which i am supposing hardly any of them, or perhaps none of them, do).

as it stands right now, if a team is at 25 players, i am guessing the thing is going to allow that team to add more players to the major league roster.

(when is the amatuer draft? is it 3-31? shouldn't the signing period be starting now, and be complete by the draft? i don't get the part about going on rest when the draft runs. the team is supposed to be ready to play then, right?)

The Amateur Draft runs before the signings begin. The draft runs, then the league date is set to 3/28, then signings start.

ah. i can't see why the current setup should be a problem then.

(they stay where they are but go on rest? seems alright.)

Tyson, it appears that, after the amateur draft, the league date went to 3-30 instead of 3-28. Then, based on the scheduled time for games to play, it progressed to 4-1, and the season began.
