Help me ditch 60 players

August 13, 2010 at 02:31AM View BBCode

I can't work the promotion/demotion tools because my roster is so bloated (help, tyson?), but I have worked out my tentative 40 man roster. If someone is not on this list, he is available for a trade. A decent cheap player or something for a bunch of old guys is what I'm looking for, most of these salaries are 1.1M, very reasonable.

The guys I may keep:

SP-Black, Bernal, Mabry, Laskey, Henry
RP-Powell, Wells, Tartabull, Williams, White
Hitters-Ellison, Molesworth, Webb, Talton, Eckert, Crosby, Young, Niemecz, Burrus, Fehring, Shook, Upchurch, Bittner, Billings, Piniero.

Minors-Williamson, Shamsky, Foiles, Henderson, Segui, Hurst, Brickell, Proctor, Cone, Stone,Fielder, Zientara

If they aren't on this list...please get them off my roster. Even if they are, they aren't really untouchable, this is negotiable.

(Tyson, any way I can promote/demote guys before cutting the roster down?)

Wow, salary is over 100M.

I have one player making more than 1.5M (he makes 3M).

Wow. Guess that is a lesson learned? (Also, I thought that the system wouldn't allow you to go over 100M and that if you bid on a guy and he signed, but took you over that threshold, he would automatically be signed by the next highest bidder.

To answer the question, if you are over 100M Abe will just ignore the bid. If you are under 100, Abe will sign the players as normal.

The reason for this is that many people will sign a player, then line up a trade for getting rid of a guy if they are able to sign that player. Maybe we should just set this at a hard 80, sort of like how the NBA works.

I'll also have to check to see how Baltimore was able to sign the last few guys.

I think it is worth spending time on coding to prevent this from happening, rather than coding to fix it after it happens.

I'm going to add another restriction to the salary code that doesn't allow you to have more than 55 players on your roster.

Just waive a bunch of players and I'll delete the adjustments for you.

I like what you did with the self-regulated cap on acquiring players via bid. I put myself at a 90M cap for the day 3 bids, and I signed players that put me at 87 something, which is fine because I already had worked out some trades to drop 8 million or so of salary. I think the adjustable cap is a great idea for bidding.
