Quarter has run

I activated the preseason schedule so that buys me a bit of time on the draft population issue. The first preseason quarter has run. Sorry, still no individual stats display, individual stats have been the problem. But while I solve that, enjoy your first quarter. :)

Looked pretty smooth to me Chris. I didn't see anything out of the ordinary!
Do you want us checking for anything in particular?

Main thing is that your depth chart was actually used the way you set it up. Also, I keep seeing issues where plays are broken up (the end of a play is in a different row from the beginning) or gaps in the abbreviated play-by-play in the boxscore.
Weather is working properly now; temperatures follow a pattern that appears random day-to-day but follows the monthly averages for a given city and follows regional short-term changes like hot or cold spells. Precipitation is not location-specific yet: I think every given game has an 8% chance of precipitation, with the precipitation being rain above 32 degrees and snow at or below 32. This will become more realistic later, but it's good enough for now.

A couple of initial observations:
1) too many "pitches" not enough "hand-offs"
2) 3 kickoffs none of which went deeper than the 16 yard line.

I'll take a look at the pitches, thanks!
What is the kick power on that kicker, and was he kicking into the wind? (note that north is to the high on the display.)

I noticed that in the box score there was an injury but it wasn't noted in the game notes. Not sure if that's an issue:

Two different kickers, one B one A- .
9mph wind with kicks going both with it and against it.

Here's how the various ratings are used on kickoffs:
- Kick Power is the most important, contrls the initial velocity off the foot.
- Kick Accuracy controls how close to the ideal angle the kick is for the owner's kick strategy, which for kickoffs is usually maximum distance. Also, lower accuracy kickers have more of a chance of shanking one out of bounds.
- Execution controls how consistent the kick power is; lower execution kickers will have more variability in the amount of power they apply to a kick.
- For those receiving the kick, the Kick Return (along with Execution to a lesser extent) rating helps determine the first 10-20 or so yards of the return, determining how much of a "jump" the returner can get against the kicking side. These numbers are larger for deep kicks and smaller for shallow kicks.
- After that, it is the kick returner's Agility and Break Tackle vs. the defenders' Agility and Tackle ratings, with speed and the blocking ratings of the blockers nearest the ball carrier determining distance.

Yes, put him at the top of the Kickoff Specialist depth chart. He can be at the top of both KOS and Punter.

My punter doesn't appear as an option there, just my active kicker Wallace and my inactive kicker Garrett.

Yup, same with me. My punter is not listed as an option for KOS.

Do these punters have decent kick power? I may have a bug in the evaluation function for KOS.

My punter Gant is A- in kick power, higher than my PK.

He definitely should be eligible.

OK, I've adjusted the ratings for punters and kickoff specialists, and I've re-tuned kickoffs to get more consistent results.
My target is for a kicker with 75 power, 60 accuracy and 50 execution to average 63 yards per kickoff. I originally had my "average" kicker target at 82 power but examining my database, 82-power placekickers are rare, not average. I may need to adjust their initial skills or their improvement percentages slightly, but for now I think I have a much better kickoff platform.
The worst kickoffs, where you had a weak kick and a bad angle, were going as low as 26 yards before... now the lowest is down around 42, still awful but not ridiculously so. For that prototypical kicker, 10,000 kicks looks like this:
Kicks 80-84 yds: 2 (0.02%)
Kicks 75-79 yds: 132 (1.32%)
Kicks 70-74 yds: 890 (8.90%)
Kicks 65-69 yds: 2722 (27.22%)
Kicks 60-64 yds: 3497 (34.97%)
Kicks 55-59 yds: 2141 (21.41%)
Kicks 50-54 yds: 532 (5.32%)
Kicks 45-49 yds: 79 (0.79%)
Kicks 40-44 yds: 5 (0.05%)
Your punter Gant should perform as this on kickoffs:
Kicks 80-84 yds: 203 (2.03%)
Kicks 75-79 yds: 883 (8.83%)
Kicks 70-74 yds: 2016 (20.16%)
Kicks 65-69 yds: 2755 (27.55%)
Kicks 60-64 yds: 2349 (23.49%)
Kicks 55-59 yds: 1251 (12.51%)
Kicks 50-54 yds: 410 (4.10%)
Kicks 45-49 yds: 126 (1.26%)
Kicks 40-44 yds: 4 (0.04%)
The best kicker currently in the league is John Jarvis who should perform like this:
Kicks 85-89 yds: 228 (2.28%)
Kicks 80-84 yds: 1579 (15.79%)
Kicks 75-79 yds: 2073 (20.73%)
Kicks 70-74 yds: 2384 (23.84%)
Kicks 65-69 yds: 2251 (22.51%)
Kicks 60-64 yds: 1033 (10.33%)
Kicks 55-59 yds: 373 (3.73%)
Kicks 50-54 yds: 73 (0.73%)
Kicks 45-49 yds: 5 (0.05%)
Kicks 40-44 yds: 1 (0.01%)
How do those numbers feel to you?

Oh, before I made the adjustments to the code today, the average kicker (75/60/50) would perform like this:
Kicks 80-84 yds: 0 (0.00%)
Kicks 75-79 yds: 27 (0.27%)
Kicks 70-74 yds: 181 (1.81%)
Kicks 65-69 yds: 642 (6.42%)
Kicks 60-64 yds: 1492 (14.92%)
Kicks 55-59 yds: 2348 (23.48%)
Kicks 50-54 yds: 2655 (26.55%)
Kicks 45-49 yds: 1749 (17.49%)
Kicks 40-44 yds: 772 (7.72%)
Kicks 35-39 yds: 129 (1.29%)
Kicks 30-34 yds: 5 (0.05%)
