Postseason History

February 20, 2010 at 10:32PM View BBCode

I have a postseason history page up at http://beta.simdynasty.com/postseason.jsp ; it's not on the menu system yet. Please check it out and let me know if you have any browser weirdness.

I have no idea what is up for 2032 and 2033 in the history. Note that for Beta, team nicknames are not available prior to 2035.

Hmm, any chance that you could put in links to the boxscores for the games?

Nice work. Here's a couple suggestions, some of these might be better for long term...

Make the page 3 columns. First column would show AL Series, along with the record (4-2). The record could link to the Past Playoffs page for that season.

Kind of like what they have on baseball reference: http://www.baseball-reference.com/postseason/

Maybe we also add the season awards to this page, and maybe leaders in key stat categories. Although those would need to be done carefully as to not bombard the server.

The year links to the Past Playoffs page for that season which has all the boxscore links.

I like that Baseball Reference layout. I was essentially doing a simple dump of the almanac table; I would definately be worried about all the details being server-heavy on a league like the JRL. But I agree that's a good idea, I'll look into it.

Maybe we should dump the Award winners into the Almanac table at the end of each season for easy look up?

LeagueID, cityID and logo at that particular year would be good to have in the table too. Since I pull those from the Team table, they'll be inaccurate if the team changes cities or leagues. I can't imagine what a mess this page will be in the OCL... :)

It looks good to me (well, minus the already-noted 2032/2033 issues).

One thing, is it possible to have the team link on the playoff history page link to the depth chart of the team from that year? For instance, if you click on the [url=http://beta.simdynasty.com/depth.jsp?teamid=36208]1986 Washington link you are taken to the current year's depth chart[/url]. Is that information, i.e., historic depth charts, even available?

(Also, I just noted that the older box scores don't seem to be loading fully. For instance, the [url=http://beta.simdynasty.com/boxscore.jsp?playoff=true&series=13072&boxscoreid=70901]ALCS game 1 box score from 1966[/url] freezes with the words "Showing Box Score..." appearing in the DynastyVision interface. Canceling DynastyVision does not do anything either.)

Historic depth chart informaton is not available for this.

Maybe we should link to ownerteam.jsp instead of the depth chart?
