This may sound like a stupid question, but how do you trade draft picks??February 24, 2004 at 02:23PM View BBCode
You have to trust the guy you are trading with. It is not currently built into the system. Essentially you tell the guy your draft preferences and he sets them, then sends whoever he gets with that pick over to you in a trade.February 24, 2004 at 07:51PM View BBCode
Hope that helps! :)Originally posted by JulioF
It is an agreement between owners based on the honor system. For example, if you want my good, but not outstanding 28 y/o shortstop, I may be willing to trade him for your 1st pick in the upcoming (or a subsequent year's) amateur draft.
Either you or I would officially "propose" the trade to the other - there is no need to include a player from both sides. In the comment field, whomever is proposing the trade would add a comment like "Trading Joe Blow for the New York Oilers' number 1 pick in the 1951 amateur draft."
The trade is then accepted, and the player is moved to your team.
Here, in this Topic, we add a new reply stating that the New York Oilers owe the Cleveland Wahoos the Oilers' number 1 pick in the 1951 amateur draft.
Near or at the end of the season, I will send you my amateur draft setting preferences for the first round choice. You set these as noted in your draft preferences screen.
After the draft runs in the offseason, the player chosen is sent by you to me in a similar manner in which we did the initial "1-player" trade.
Doing this is beyond the programmed scope of the game. As I said, it assumes we are all willing to abide by the process and be honest in our dealings with each other.
Almost all, or perhaps all, of the Dynasty Leagues allow and support trading of draft choices. :D
