I was pleasantly surprised when he decided to sign a contract and come back after the strike in 1995.
I was at this game where Winfield hit his first HR as an Indian:

The Indians seemed to have a lot of those "Abe" crazy late innings that year. Check out that comeback!

I remember my beloved Indians somehow ending up with Winfield during the 1994 season. He never played for us that year, but for me at the time it was almost like the Cavs getting Shaq. Superstars like Winfield just weren't supposed to play for teams like the Indians, even if he was a bit washed up.I was pleasantly surprised when he decided to sign a contract and come back after the strike in 1995.

One of his signature moves was to swing at a low pitch with all his might and as he missed, the bat would fly out of his hands into the third base stands/foul territory. Watch out fans!
Cant tell you how many times I saw him do that.
