I've made a change to the search feature so that you could only search the last year for posts. If you need to search further back than that, you should use the Google search feature instead. I found that whenever this search was initiated, the database really gets backed up.I'm looking at other things too to help the message boards when they lag.

You can search any timeframe, as long as you specify either a username or forum to search by. Otherwise, it will only check the last 30 days for you.
Hopefully this will help message board performance.
