Bill Black of the New York Ginger Kids no-hit the Cleveland CarpEaters on a thankfully overcast day in the first game of a three-game series in New York. New York won 4-0 with RBI from four different batters.
But the real story was Black, who was painting the black all day. He walked two batters but faced the minimum. Henry Davis drew a walk in the first inning but was thrown out trying to steal. In the second inning, Art Hayes drew a walk and was forced out on a fielder's choice on a groundball by Bill Tucker, then Tucker was thrown out trying to steal.
Black retired the next 22 batters for his first career no-hitter.
