Are the Nats going to pitch him this year? Your GM Rizzo did a great job staring down Boras.

It does seem like our new GM (no longer "interim") did a fine job negotiating. Of course, the agent did the team a humongous favor: he floated those ridiculous numbers early on (or allowed them to be floated; it never actually came from his mouth), so even if he'd gotten exactly the deal he wanted, the team would have looked frugal by comparison.
Best part about the signing, though? I can think of this kid as a pitcher now. At least since the draft -- and heck, even before it -- he had become a commodity, something to be valued. Now he's just a kid who can pitch very very well for someone his age, and I'm once again excited by him.

My understanding is, they're sending him to Florida (their spring-training complex) to work out and get back in shape. Sounds like he won't even pitch in the minors this year but will go to the Arizona Fall League.It does seem like our new GM (no longer "interim") did a fine job negotiating.
