I'm so tingly

After a couple weeks of little access to SD, I find us here with the final day determining who makes the playoffs. Big Boston/NY series, and my little Dips get to help decide Chicago's fate. Should be fun.

It?s an exciting day here at Big Red Headquarters as we try to hold off Philly for our first post season appearance. Also surprisingly there is a GVHL franchise up for sale and still no takers.

I am most tingly, clinching first place with one game to play. Good luck to the still battling Chefs and Pies. Big win, Scooter. Thanks.

Cincy and Philly tied going to the last day...or next to last day...who knows...

Indeed, Steve, the erstwhile final day may prove to be penultimate.

And you're welcome, Luke. Decided to go whole-hog, since the two big teams had to face each other. Angel Islington moves to the pen and notches his first save since 1971. Now we're set up for a couple exciting games -- in both leagues -- on 10/1.

wow, tiebreakers on the horizon in each league! Who's with me wanting a pair of 20 inning games that wipe out all the bullpens?

Very exciting stuff. Good luck to everyone on the cusp.

Oh, man. I blew that. I was moving my lousy relievers out of the pen into the rotation, to make room for the starters I was putting in the pen. Guess what? I had the "starters" in the wrong order, and young Ricky Hobbs, the best there ever was, just got gypped out of what might have been his final start. Ouch. The good news is, my teams stinks on ice, so the Chefs probably would have cooked our goose anyway.

Oh, and by the way

I'm guessing nobody believes Matt is actually going to leave.

The extra game in each league could actually impact some close award races. The AL MVP race could be swayed with Baker having a slight lead over Feller. In the NL, Harnett has a chance to pass Waveland and win the "Irv".

And the extra game did impact. Feller bumped ahead of Baker for the AL MVP, and Harnett edged out Waveland for the NL Irv

I guess the writers were swayed by the drama of the tie-breaker.
