The Hall of Fame committee of the JWL would like to congratulate the Class of 1983's entrance into this great establishment:

Earl Foytack, CLE

Earl received 75% of the vote or 6 out of 8 which is the requirement for induction.

Players that move on to next years ballot and their years of eligibility:

Abner 25% retired 74, 1 more year on the ballot
Krichell 25% retired 74, 1 more year on the ballot
Schutte 25% retired 76, 3 more years on the ballot
Putz 38% retired 77, 4 more years on the ballot
Clear 25% retired 78, 5 more years on the ballot
Sulwalsky 63% retired 78, 5 more years on the ballot (1 vote short! Maybe next year!)
Vern Garcia 38% retired 78, 5 more years on the ballot
Raymond 38% retired 79, 6 more years on the ballot
Marichal 25% retired 79, 6 more years on the ballot
Blaylock 38% retired 80, 7 more years on the ballot

Falling off of the ballot for not getting the required 15%:

Evans 38% retired 73, out of chances
Chief 13% retired 74, off ballot, not enough votes
F. Garcia 13% retired 75, off ballot, not enough votes
Pena 13% retired 80, off ballot, not enough votes
Kreuger 0%, off ballot, not enough votes
Martin 0%, off ballot, not enough votes
