Trial League - Part 2
January 21, 2009 at 09:07PM View BBCode
Ok, I think I have all the kinks worked out of the initial league startup stuff. I've cleared the players from the league for the first Trial League.
I'm going to populate the draftees, the draft will run tonight. I'll check to see how things look, then run more events tomorrow to make sure things work properly.
trial3 is playing games.
I am looking at trial4 - I'm going to run these events one after another, including the draft if it still needs to be run.

I'm curious, is there something new or different with starting leagues from how it was before?

From a script perspective, there is a lot of changes. From the user perspective, it should look pretty similar.
Here is what is going on in the backend that is new (so far):
- auto population of initial draftees once a league has 1 or more players
- a pause day built in between when the league fills and when the draft runs
- a pause day built in between when the draft runs and when the game starts
- a league start date of 07/04 for 1950, and 07/02 for 1951 and 1952
- a script that runs each night to run any needed OS or Amateur Drafts
- a script that runs each night looking for leagues that have completed, and set those leagues up for another 3 season term for anyone that wants to do it again.
- doubling of ICs since we only play 81 games.
I never had to worry about most of this because single season leagues all end on the same day, so I could just schedule scripts to run every 2 months.

This seems to have worked so far. I just ran the script to play the first games of the season, bypassing the pause day.
I'd like to get these leagues spaced out a bit more. That way if league 1 encounters a problem, I have time to fix it before league 2 reaches that point in time.
Trial League will play 18 games per day, 3 in each time slot. trial3 will play 12 games per day, 2 in each time slot. trial4 will play 6 games per day, 1 in each time slot.
I will likely run a bunch of games this afternoon to get the first league into September so I can test the Ammy draft population code, then the playoffs, then offseason and draft.

Do the games not run at the same times for all teams? The standings page is showing I'm 6.5 GB in Trial League.

Sorry about this... but what is the link to get back to my trial league team? I bookmarked in Firefox, but it seems firefox likes to eat my bookmarks as it overwrote the link to my regular single season team. If you don't want to publish the link to the public (since I can't find in threads anymore) can you U2U it to me?
Thanks!
