Trade desk

The trade desk has been redesigned to hopefully make it easier to evaluate trades. You know the drill; please bang on it and let me know if it breaks.

Howdy, Another one of your great improvements, I love it. Their is only one very minor thing that I see.... The info about a proposed trade, needs a space after "Proposed by the" to separate from team name. thanks Bryce

Proposed by theLos Angeles Angels to the Washington Renegades on 07-28-2025

Fixed. Thank you!

I like the changes to the trade desk, however I miss the direct link to the depth charts. I like to evaluate not only the players, but also the entire team roster to see if there are any possible counters.

Now I need to click on a player on my team and click on the player on the other team before being able to click on the team link to see the depth charts.

The links are still there. At the end of each player's row it has the links to both teams' depth charts.

Oops! (blink, blink) Time to get my eyes checked... missed the links completely.

Well if you missed them someone else will too, so I've made the names of the teams in the trade headers into links as well.

Chris -

I really like the work you have done with "user interface" of SD. You deserve a raise. If Tyson doesn't give you one - or even if he does, I will buy you a beer (coffee, wine, or whatever) if and when you come to Portland, Oregon.

Thanks... I appreciate it! :)

In another change, the team links on the Trade Desk page now go to the team's Depth Chart rather than the Trade page; with the ability to trade from the Depth Chart, the Trade page is rather extraneous. Going to the Depth Chart through the Trade Desk now shows draft pick options at the bottom and makes a couple of other minor changes (the title of the page is more appropriate and the links to the other roster pages are removed).

If there is a reason to prefer the old Trade page, please let me know. The only advantage I can see to it is that the Depth Chart is hard to use on mobile devices, so I may link to the old Trade page when on a mobile device.

Good change... The Depth Chart is easier to use. Thanks.

One suggestion: When I view a standard depth chart of an opposing team there is an option to propose a trade. The only problem is that I cannot ask for draft picks unless I go to the trade desk. Is it possible to change the "Propose Trade" link to take me to the Trade Desk showing the team's DC with draft picks and not to the second page showing my list of players?

I could just make the Draft Picks row visible all the time....

Wait, where exactly is the depth chart different? I clicked on LA's team name from the trade desk while logged in as betauser, and it just looks like the normal depth chart. The links are all along the top, and there aren't any draft picks at the bottom.

oh wait, never mind, I thought you meant down below in the information about already proposed trades.

Hm. It's working for me. When I click from there, "mode=trade" should appear in the URL when you arrive at the depth chart. The page header should say "Propose Trade" instead of "Depth Chart". Do you need to maybe empty your cache?

That would be useful for owners who use the "standard" Depth Chart for trade proposals. I assume you would only see the Draft Picks on other Depth Charts, not on your own Depth Chart.

On the other hand, its not too much of a hardship to go to the Trade Desk to initiate a trade if having a row of Draft Picks is confusing to other owners.

I just placed a test trade offer and got this result on the Trade Desk summary. Note the duplicate entries.

Odd. Please offer a similar trade to LAN and see if you get the same results.

Didn't happen with the first trade offer to you... nor the second. Wonder why it happened when I made an offer to Chicago?

Didn't happen the third time where I "forgot" to send someone to the minors.

Did you maybe click on the submit button twice on the trade to Chicago?

Just tried double clicking on a trade to you, duplicates did not show up.

------------

Your trade offer did not include duplicates... don't know how I got the results before.

I've also added owner names and U2U links to the Trade Desk.

Casey, is the doubled trade still on your desk?

Yeah, like I said (apparently not very clearly :)), I misunderstood what it was supposed to be. I thought it was all of the team links on the trade page, not just the trade offer ones at the top.

Good point. Those links should probably go to the depth chart in trade mode as well.

One other change: Cancelling or clearing a trade will no longer go to a separate page. The trade desk page will reload and any messages from the cancel or clear action will appear at the top of the page.
