How do I change starting pitchers?

August 27, 2002 at 09:21PM View BBCode

I tried juggling my rotation up to get my top three starters (minus the one that just pitched) to pitch the last three games and it won't work. It has the same pitchers scheduled to pitch as before. Why is that?

ABE will look at your 5 starting pitchers and take the highest one that is rested. Just put the starters you want in the top three slots and they'll get the start unless they're tired.

You cannot force a guy to start on short rest, although it would be a good feature to add at some point. Of course that pitcher wouldn't be as effective if forced to start without being fully rested, but it would be nice to give the manager the option.

The rotation doesn't go in order necessarily. ABE looks at stamina and starter number (i.e. #1, #2, etc.). If everyone was full of energy, the #1 pitcher would go. So if your top 3 pitchers are tired (even a little) and your #4 is fully healthy, he'd pitch no matter what rotation you plugged in.

Is there no way to tweak it at all? so that the starter comes out early and my ace can come in?

The only guy I have rested is my 5th starter and good luck on him winning...

I just put a fresh relief pitcher into my lineup, and his energy was down to 2 bars. My ace now has the highest energy (4 bars). Will ABE pitch him?

Nevermind, I got it figured out. Thanks to all who tried to help.

I think in that case, ABE will plug in a long reliever or if they are tired maybe your ace. Either way, you're not helping yourself out by forcing your ace to start on short rest. He won't be effective on short rest.
