i thought it was supposed to be getting easier, not harder, to develop mediocre pitchers. yikes.

What do you mean? I saw improvements.
My once really crappy pitchers are now only kind of crappy.
The good news is that there is only one way to go for my staff. I am hoping I win those 8-7 games now instead of losing them.

The serious answer is, I think that the batch of changes are scheduled to be put in Tuesday. Meaning that it'll be next offseason before we see the new and imporved imporvements.
But yeah. Making it easier still won't mean it's easy.

Oh! I forgot to crow about retirements!
The Dips only lost Rube Murray and Joe Midkiff (if you can count those as losses). I had been very afraid of losing both my #4 and #5 starters, but they're both back. More importantly, Jimmy Nichols is back to try to chase a few more milestones.
(Too bad that Mulvey is back for his -- yikes -- 21st season. I don't guess Nichols is gonna catch him for that career runs record. Oh well, it was a long shot anyway. Good news for you though, Rich.)

Ullrich is starting behind the plate for the Philsophers. I kinda like my team this year....but I have been wrong (many times) before.
