Cubs, Blues combine for 4 hits

It was the top of the ninth in today's 3rd game between the Cubs and Blues. Adolph Coors was looking like the dominant figure he had been all year long. Unfortunately for him, the Blues pitchers Jed Keely and Lovie Sheath had been even more dominant than he had been.
Through 8 innings, Coors had allowed just a double to James Soule in the top of the first, a single to Elliot Smith in the top of the 5th, a single to Adam Svec in the top of the 7th and 3 walks. In the ninth, Coors faced two batter. After striking out Soule, Coors walked Svec. Cubs' manager Bart Ender would then bring out setup man Frederick Miller. After getting Elliot Miller to ground out, Miller would give up three consecutive singles... allowing 2 runs to score.
Blues' closer D McKay came in to close out the game, but it was much more significant than that. The Cubs had managed just 3 baserunners in the previous 8 innings... all of which coming via walks. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the Blues were working on a no-hitter! This was broken up, however, by third baseman Anheuser Busch's infield single with 1 out. McKay would close out the game by retiring the next two batters he would face.
In the end, the Blues end up 1-hitting the Cubs and derailing Chicago's 5-game win streak.
