Hall of Fame - 1969 Voting
March 18, 2008 at 11:47PM View BBCode
Baseball fans!
Note: I changed the year reference for this thread, too.
This is reminder to submit your Hall of Fame ballot. As of this afternoon, the following teams have voted:
Cleveland cavaliers
Brooklyn Kings
Milwaukee Braves
Philadelphia Ramblers
St. Louis Fred Birds
In addition, the Washington Warriors submitted a late nomination, but I do not think they have voted.
To link to the nominees' player cards, please view the Hall of Fame - 1968 thread. Please take a few minutes and submit your votes.
On behalf of the players and their former teams, thank you for participating.

Deep Threat, of the Baltimore Privateers, checked in with some very thoughtful comments. I hope you read them.
Nevertheless, even though a few players remain unanimous choices, among those who have voted, for induction into our Hall of Fame, no one has accumulated the required eight vote minimum to qualify.
When we initiated the HOF, someone commented that the eight vote minimum makes induction especially meaningful, since at least half of the league, whether all owners vote or not, agree that a player is deserving of induction.
My questions to the league are:
a) Did those of you who have not voted overlook the process and the suggested deadline?
b) Do we want to continue with the TRL HOF concept?
Personally, I would love to have one of my Kings honored in such a fashion. However, if a member of the Kings is inducted, I will probably have to wait fifteen to twenty sim years. In the meantime, I would love to see those who are deserving inducted into the HOF. We are accumulating quite a history. Some fine ballplayers have amassed some eye-popping statistics during the nineteen year history of the TRL. Does anyone else agree that these TRL studs should be honored?
What are your comments?

you say not everyone voted? if everyone voted we might have enough to vote them in. thats too bad. i am in one league it is the first one i ever joined and we started a hall of fame and then when some of the older team owners got their old players voted in no one would do the h o f anymore and we only voted in players for a couples years. i have had some players in that league that might have made it in but we dont vote anymore.... it really sucks. so if we are not going to vote then i say put it to rest and forget it. at least for now. you have to have owners wanting to vote and be involved for it to work.
sorry but thats the way i feel about it.. so if everyone wants to be involved then please vote and lets keep it going....
if not just forget it

The HOF fame is definitely a worthwhile concept. We just need the members to vote.

Baseball fans,
In recent days, a few owners have expressed opinions in support of the HOF process. In addition, several owners have submitted their HOF voting preferences. Teams that have voted are:
Baltimore Privateers (*)
Boston Burnouts
Cleveland cavaliers
Detroit Tigers
Brooklyn Kings
Cincinnati Red Stockings
Milwaukee Braves
Philadelphia Ramblers
St. Louis Fred Birds
(*) A new owner, but his thorough analysis makes a strong case for any active member of the league participating in the voting.
I am in favor of any active member participating in the voting, but I do not want to change the rules in the middle of the vote unless no one objects. Does any one object? If not, I move that, for this year and future years, all active owners are eligible to vote.
Also, since this is but our second election, and this entire process is a new one, I propose that we hold the election open for a couple more days. Currently, one player has enough votes (with or without Deep Threat's vote) to be elected. Three players have seven votes and , with Deep Threat's vote, have eight. A couple additional players are "knocking on the door".
Those of you who have not voted,
please vote by Wednesday evening, March 26. This is the final extension.
Also, please express your opinion on the motion to allow any active owner to vote.
Finally, I believe that I should create, during the final week of a season, a HOF discussion thread that highlights the upcoming election. Hopefully, this will get us thinking about the election, who is qualified, etc. What do you think?

I agree with any active member being allowed to vote. I would think that any member should be able to look at the player's stats and determine if a candidate is worthy of the HOF.
The HOF discussion is also a good idea, giving members the opportunity to nominate and discuss potential candidates.
Keep up the good work, Tim. Your work on this is making our HOF possible!

i have no problem with a new owner voting, it is great that we are getting owners involved.
the other things you brought up sound good to me too.
thank you tim for keeping it going and making our hall of fame possible.
