Offical Hall of Fame for the Johnny Bench League

(please keep this thread clear of unnecessary posts)

Starting Pitcher Inductees:
Bob Feller - One of the greatest of all time. Although his baseball career was cut short because of military service during and after WWII, the time that he did share was pure brilliance. When he retired after the 1957 season he had accumulated 3 Cy Young awards, 5 20-win seasons, 2 World Series rings, and led the league in virtually every category. Bob Feller, we salute you.

Chick Rodriquez's winning record (281-142) paved his way to the Hall. The three time NL Cy Young Award winner was also a five time starter in seven All Star Game appearences. With 281 wins (five 20+ game winning seasons) during his 16 year career with the Milwaukee Braves, Chick retired in 1967 at age 37 being #1 in the Wins column. To add to his accomplishments, he was #1 in Strikeouts for his career fanning 2,706 and Complete Games with 140. One often overlooked fact is "the Original K-Rod" had only 22 injured days while starting 489 games and pitching 3,875.1 innings. Chick Rodriquez's 1968 induction into The Hall of Fame is a great tribute to a great player.

Closer Inductees:

Catcher Inductees:
Pudge Rodriguez - Pudge was an 11 time all-star, with 1 MVP award win and multiple considerations. He hit 475 career HR's (fourth all time), with 1,530 RBI's (6th all time) and a career .293 Average. He only had 11 Errors in his entire career behind the plate, and he threw out almost 40% of those trying to steal on him. He had 11 seasons with at least 30 Homers, including 5 seasons with at least 40 homers; and 9 seasons with at least 100 RBI's. He only missed 33 games in his entire time as a full time Major league starter (he didn't start the entire season his first year or his last year)

First Baseman Inductees:

Second Baseman Inductees:
George Crowe - Although George Crowe's offensive stats weren't unbelievable (mostly as a result of being on a bad team for most of his career) his defense was so incredible that he was able to commit only 15 errors in more than 1,700 games - that's a lifetime fielding percentage of .999! If the gold glove award were recorded, he would have won the award every year that he played (that would be 13). He also appeared in 7 all star games during his career, and amassed over 300 HR's, 1,000 RBI's, and a lifetime .295 BA. George Crowe, we salute you.

Shortstop Inductees:

Third Baseman Inductees:
Dave Hughes - A mostly disregarded player, Dave Hughes put up massive totals throughout his solid career as a third baseman. In the power corner, Hughes lived up the position by ammassing eight 30-homer seasons, five 100-RBI seasons, and a lifetime average of .297. Like Bob Feller, Hughes' wartime service cut short his baseball career. Dave Hughes, we salute you.

Outfield Inductees:
Sal Sularz was a 19 yo Round 1 #2 draft pick of the Milwaukee Braves in 1950. He took the field opening day that year and was a major league player from then on with his beloved Braves for 18 seasons. He was named an All Star reserve in the outfield in 1953 and played in the next 12 All Star games as a starter. Sal got his chance at Center Field in 1956 and came into his own at that position with 5 straight MVP awards ('57-61) and added two more MVP's at Left '62 and '63. Sal's left hand hitting earned many seasonal awards and on his retirement he was ranked #1 in Runs scored (2065) and Home Runs (624). He was #2 in Hits (3414) and RBI's (1957). With a career batting average of .305 and a slugging percentage of .552 Sal's bat would welcome on any team. His A+ mentoring helped many young players to a productive future in baseball. Congratulations, Sal Sularz, on your 1968 induction in the JBL Hall of Fame.

What needs to be done? Do we submit a list of nominations?

Not sure, my other leagues have a "Hall of Fame" option under the Stats menu...dont know if it's something that can be added in dynasty leagues or not.

I believe it can be added, my other Dynasty League has it, but someone in the league has to agree to kind of be the administrator of it. I might consider it, but I just started a new job that has far tighter internet controls and am moving soon, so I dunno if I'd be the best option.

If you're looking at potential players, here's a link to the last time it came up.

If the only thing blocking a HoF is an administrator then I can take on the role.

works for me. one of my other leagues has a pretty good system

A player needs at least 75% of the vote for induction, 33% to remain on the ballot for another season for a maximum of three seasons. An owner may vote for as many players as are deemed worthy.

as for guys already retired, we could just add the obvious (500hr,3000 hits ect) and then just vote on 2 or 3 "veteran committee" players per season until its caught up.

JJmarsh, I'm liking it.

Goldambre, if you're willing to take it on, I think you can go ahead and PM the admin and they will give you access to it
