The bats didn't have much of a chance to wake up against two Cy Young candidates in the first 2 games. However they were able to touch Condit for 4 in 5.2, despite only eeking out 2 against a stellar McGee complete game in game 1.
I think the next 2 games play in our favor pitching matchup wise, and the depth of our pitching staff will have to continue to be a factor. We will need to take both of the next 2 if we are to have any hope of avoiding a game 7, since the chances of us beating both McGee and Condit in games 5,6 are slim at best. If we can take the next two, then we can play for a split against two of the best in the league.:)
Tigres split with Borg

The NY Borg and Detriot Tigres split the first two games of the series this morning. Tigres starting pitching has not lived up to it's end of the bargain so far, giving up 10 ERs in just 7.1 IP. However the balance has been remarkably our bullpen, which has only allowed 2 ERs in 10.2 IP.The bats didn't have much of a chance to wake up against two Cy Young candidates in the first 2 games. Yeah, I lost them both.
The first we went down 2-1 in a well pitched match-up. The second we got hammered for 11 runs in the first 4.2 IP.
Which is wierd because i have my preferences set to remove a SP after 4 if he has given up 6 or more runs. Through 4 IP my SP had given up 8, yet ABE still trotted the guy out there despite there being 5 available relivers in the pen.:mad:
I figured out why he did that, I had it set to do that unless we were up by 6 or down by 8. mental slips like that get a manager fired. (Note Grady Little)
But baseball's a funny game.
It looks like it's just the Borg's year. I don't see anyway we can overcome a 3-1 deficit when we have to face McGee (22-6 2.46) next and Condit (20-9 2.98) after that.
But you never know, maybe McGee will slice his hand open trying to open up a CD or something. Maybe Condit will ruin his back trying to get up off the couch.

BTW a quick calculation reveals a 10.40 ERA (18.1 IP) from my starters in this series, while my pen has a 1.78 ERA (15.2 IP). Hope for a miracle Tigres!
