Some of my mid-season fears are being realized. Despite making moves to aquire one of the best hitters and two solid relievers for the stretch run, my team has flounderd. Especially in this past three game set with Baltimore. Brand gives up grand slams in the last innings of two straight games. Ouch! The starting pitching which overacheived the first half of the season is now coming back to reality ... hard. What was once a comfortable 13 and 14 game lead over the closest competitors is now a rapidly shrinking 5 game lead over Boston. If we play anything like this in the postseason, we're toast, in five.:(Record since August 1st 1951, 20-13 .606
