Is there a league out there that disables the renaming of players option? If so, I would gladly join that league. If not, are there other people out there that also feel that the renaming is a distraction to the point that you would enjoy a league where only ABE names players?

There are leagues out there like that. The HCL for instance prevents name changes entirely (although almost everything else goes). I'm sure there are others.

I like changing the names. Helps me to remember names and positions easier at the beginning of the season. After the first 10 games of the season, though, name changes should disable.

I actually think it usually disables on May 1.

In the Mookie Wilson League, we only allow a player's name to be changed once. This gives peopler the freedom to change the name, but once a player has played in the majors, his name stays forever. It's a good balance.

The Fernando Valenzuela League doesn't allow name changes. It is only just begun, however, so we don't have any openings for new owners.In the Mookie Wilson League, we only allow a player's name to be changed once. I am in favor of name changes, as it helps personalize a team but think that there should be a mechanism do disable it after a player has a certain number of days of major league service for the sake of continuity.
I recently retired from a Dynasty League and the new owner immediately renamed all the players, even the 15 year veterans. I actually had u2u messages from owners in the league expressing their dismay but it is now "his team" so the names are his for the changing
